Fedorov G. E., assistant professor of foundry of ferrous and nonferrous metals, high achiever of Ukrainian education, distinguished lecturer of NTU "KPI", celebrated his 75th birthday on January 18, 2016.

He graduated from the Mechanics and Technology Faculty(now - Engineering Physics Faculty) of KPI in 1969. From 1969 to 1973 he worked at relay and automatics factory in Kyiv – firstly as a designer, then as a  technologist and  a senior engineer. In 1973-1976 he took a post-graduate course, and in 1977 G.E. defended master’s thesis "Technological properties of  heat-resistant chlorine-aluminium steels " which was dedicated to new class of casting alloy invented at the Department of foundry engineering of KPI. In February 1979, GE Fedorov began teaching as an assistant, and from 1982 he became an assistant professor.

G.E. was a Scientific Secretary of the Academic Council of the faculty. He solved organizational issues of housing construction №9, acted as the Deputy Vice-Rector for Research of the KPI. He was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Casting of  Ukraine".

His creative legacy comprises more than 150 scientific papers and teaching materials  including monographs "Production of castings from special steel" and "Steel casting", a two-volume manual of course "Design Foundry". His books were marked with prizes and prize diplomas of international exhibitions, universities, associations of Ukrainian casters.

G. E. is a leading lecturer, he follows the development of casting technologies and constantly update the content of lecture courses. Now he teaches 5 disciplines: "Steel castings", " Control of castings quality", "Foundry Design", "Manufacture of steel castings", "Design of technological branches". It is pleasant to note that similar training courses in several universities of Ukraine are based on the syllabus which he has created. 

G. E. finds time for educational work with students. Not only group in which he is curator, but all students of foundry department feel his pedagogical talent, parental care and sincere belief in  them as in our future and the future of our country.

At the department Fedorov G. E. has unconditional respect as a teacher, a mentor and a senior comrade, top management follows his wise advice.
