Georgiy De Metz (08.05.1861 - 1947) - physicist and methodologist, the authority in the field of radioactivity, the compiler of the first in Ukraine Course teaching of physics in schools.

He graduated Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the University of Novorossiysk. He received a master's degree for his thesis "The mechanical properties of oils and colloids" ("Novorossiysk Western Union naturalists’ society “), a doctorate for his thesis: "On the absolute compressibility of mercury and glass." De Metz was the Professor at the University of St. Vladimir and Kiev Polytechnic Institute. Since 1906, he edited the popular science journal "Physical Review".
