Apparently, not so many universities in the world have their own anthem. Our Kyiv Polytechnic - one of those few.

Who things the students song
Whose colony goes ahead?
This is my friend’s foot-walk
The Kpi students’ claps
We go under blue heaven
We sing, all gates are opened for us
We are proud of KPI level
It will be always first and never last!

With these words «KPI song " begins, which has been a musical symbol of our university for over half a century. The words and melody of the song are filled with optimism and energy of rapid movement forward. Created in the early 50s of last century, it absorbed the spirit of the era when the country was not only healing the wounds of a terrible war, but also was preparing for making a step into space.

The song (words and melody) is written by KPI student, the participant of choir Vladimir Dmitrievich Chubynsky. It seems this is not the accident (surprisingly). To create a work that will be a symbol of something great, the person should be an implement of the same period. And Chubynsky was such a person.

He was born on 1 December, 1930 in Gostomel in the teacher’s family and was Paul Platonovich Chubinsky grandson, whose poem " Ukraine's glory has not yet perished, nor her freedom.." became the basis of the National Anthem of Ukraine.  Because of the prosecution, aristocratic mother and son left in 1934 and returned to Tashkent in Ukraine (in Kryvyi Rih)in 1944. After high school, Vladimir became a student of Engineering and the Faculty of Education and member of the institute of KPI Choir.

V.D.Chubynskyy In his autobiography was writing: "A bright page not only in student years, but throughout life were a song, music, participation in the amateur performance. In the first year I became a member of the KPI Choir and remained committed member of the team for the whole life. How many uniquely beautiful moments happened with  me, I'm grateful for the opportunity that she gave me ..  "

After graduation, he did not lose his connection with the chapel. He became a freelance choirmaster and recognized leader of the informal Chapel. Vladimir Chubynsky invented many rituals and customs that have become a tradition among chapel singers. He wrote a lot of songs that can be called  a drip ritual. Among them - "Wedding Waltz", which is sung in chorus  and not only in weddings, "Fontanyersku farewell"  with which ended the meeting of chapel singers, "Farewell Waltz" - which accompanied Chapel graduates who finished the college. So he largely contributed to the fact that the choir became the spiritual union and unites for many decades, those who long ago said goodbye to student bench.

"We are fascinated with his versatile talent, inexhaustible energy, romanticism and its characteristic sense of joy, which immediately handed to all. Next to him everyone was personality, essential part of something beautiful and considerable. The love for song,  dedication traditions, true friendship, chivalrous attitude of boys to girls - all this together was the essence of a unique phenomenon, which has been called «fontanyerstvo» and the creator of which was Chub "(Tatiana Kuchynska).

«When Volodya appeared everything began to spin by his scenario - now I understand that he prepared surprises for us. We understood them as a simple coincidence, but they quietly carried Chubynsky pedagogy. He had a natural teacher gift. Now it is difficult to count how many students he taught to play by the guitar. He was inexplicable magnet who led us in the magical world of college life, music and friendship "(Boris buzzard).

This statement of those who met Chubom in 50’s.

But perhaps the communication with him has given me and my comrades - members of Chapel in the second half of 1970, called "years of stagnation" even more. The Romance of 50s was in the past. Then came a very different time. To put it mildly the initiative was not welcomed. Those who tried to make something special often heard: "Do not even try to show your face!", "Do you have a special need?" etc.

A Chubynsky taught us not be afraid to act as we feel, without looking back. Those small concerts that kapelisty were giving in the evenings on the streets of Kyiv in anywhere - in the subways, on the streets, at Vladimir's Hill – without any consistent or repertoire. And he taught us to be leaders. His example showed that in some cases we must go forward and rule- give commands cheer and inspire your team, make sure that no one remained idle. And all this taught without reading notation (though it was so and so), but by his own example.

For almost quarter of a century V.D.Chubynskiy has left not been with us. But he is remained in the memory of all who knew him. And in his songs that sound on stage and on radio. And the most famous of them - "Song of the KPI."
