March 2, 2017 Serhii Heorhiiovych Bunin, a well-known scientist and a major radio amateur, doctor of technical sciences, a professor, a laureate of state awards and just a wonderful person turned 80 years old!
Dear hero of the day, great and beloved UR5UN (UB5UN)! Please accept our sincere congratulations and wishes! For decades, we know and appreciate you as a wonderful person, a well-known scientist, an ultimate radio amateur, a true and wonderful friend with a kind heart, an open mind and a friendly smile. We are proud of your many-sided scientific achievements, appreciate your academic and encyclopedic knowledge, unique scientific and technical design talent, creative achievements, good deeds that you do unselfishly do not only for our huge radio amateur family, but also for the whole country.
Scientific and technical recognition and radio amateur success came to you many years ago for unique technical inventions and an invaluable contribution to the development of our favorite Ham Radio, one of the world's most popular hobbies, which requires knowledge of electrical engineering, mechanics, electronics, geography, foreign languages, etc. You have always been and remain the soul and pride of our great and friendly radio amateur family. We have been studying by your books, and thanks to them, your authority, wise advice and tireless creative energy, the practical contribution to our favorite cause, for many of us radio has become a cause for life.
We are proud that you are a graduate of our alma mater - Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, where you traveled from a student to a Ph.D in technical sciences, a professor, a member of specialized scientific councils and international scientific congresses and communities, world, Europe, a repeated USSR radiosport champion. For many years you headed the Department of Telecommunications and the Department of Telecommunication Systems of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, trained specialists in the field of telecommunications and communications. The leading universities of the world applauded your scientific achievements and discoveries. Your name as a radio amateur is known in the most remote corners of our planet. In the international amateur radio air, you were welcomed by the presidents and prominent statesmen from different countries, scientists, famous athletes, travelers - colleagues in our cause who have become your good friends.
It is impossible to underappreciate your tremendous contribution to the development of our favorite Ham-Radio. Old-fashioned radio amateurs are proud to mention the distant 1960-1980 years, meetings at the Kyiv City Radio Club at our famous "sections of the KH", where you were the head of the section of short waves, a true leader and leader of all of us devoted to your favorite hobby. These meetings were long-awaited. There were so many people on them – there was no place to swing a cat. Well, there was no Internet then, but live communication was much nicer. The door was opened, a young friendly face Serhii Bunin (UB5UN) came in and a miracle began: live news about DX, latest technical advances, competitions and plans for the development of Ham-Radio. We used to listen, holding their breath, and did not depart for a long time, saddened that until the next meeting we had to wait for as long as two weeks.
Ah, don’t mind the Kyiv sections of KH! No radio-amateur conference was held in the republics of the USSR, without the participation of Serhii Bunin, where he was a desirable guest, a recognized authority in the field of communication and radio amateurism, a member of many high presidencies, editorials, communities. Awesome narrator with a subtle sense of humor, a source of wisdom, known as DX-man, a techie - he has always been the focus of attention. Undeniable authority for the old and the young. Let my colleagues not get offended, but such individuals will no longer be born.
Despite the enormous business, scientific and social activities, you always find time for meetings and participation in the sessions of our radio club "Polytechnic" (UT7UZA) and the K-DX-CC club where you are always being awaited to our radio amateur society with special joy. .
On behalf of radio amateurs of the radio club "Poly-technician" of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, club K-DX-CC, and from all of our huge radio family, please accept the most sincere wishes of good health, well-being, strength and energy for your productive practice. Stay always the way you are, how we know and love you! And we are always looking forward to new creative meetings with you. Personally, I want to thank you warmly - my amateur radio eidolon - for our first meeting in the distant 1969 year. You were the first radio amateur with whom I met upon my arrival in Kyiv, and this meeting has forever brought us together. Thank you for the unforgettable, warm meetings on the street of Shovkovychna, where I received great DX-ing lessons, technical assistance, practical advice and advice on many issues.
