Valery Volodymyrovych Buldygin (05.11.1946, Tbilisi, Georgia - April 17, 2012, Kiev, buried at Baykove cemetery) - mathematician, doctor of physics and mathematics, professor, head of the department of mathematical analysis and probability theory (1986-2012), Excellence in the National Education of the URSR (1983), Excellence in Education of Ukraine (2003), Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2003), Honored Science and Technology Worker of Ukraine" (2009). He was a mentor of 3 Doctors of Sciences and 12 Candidates of Sciences.
In 1965, Valery Volodymyrovych graduated with honors from the Kiev College of Electronics. Also in 1970 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the T. Shevchenko Kyiv State University.
In 1970-1972 he studied at the post-graduate course at the Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics of the KSU; In 1973 he defended the dissertation of the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences "about Random variables in Banach spaces".
In 1972-1974 Valery Volodymyrovych worked as an assistant at the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics of the KSU.
In 1974-1986 he worked as a Senior Research Officer and Leading Researcher at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In October 1982, at the Institute of Mathematics, he defended the dissertation of the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences "Convergence of random elements in infinite-dimensional topological spaces and the representation of random processes and fields," approved by the VAK of the USSR in 1983. At the same time, he worked at the Department of Probability Theory and the Department of General Mathematics of the KSU.
In 1986, Valery Volodymyrovych headed the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Opportunity Theory of the National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI", which worked for until the last day of his life. In 1988 he was awarded the title of professor.
Valeriy Volodymyrovych Buldygin is a member of the editorial boards of the magazines "Theory of probabilities and mathematical statistics", "Theory of Stochastic Processes", "In the world of mathematics", Scientific reports of NTUU "KPI" and "Izvestia of higher educational institutions.
