Victor Grygorovych Baryakhtar (09.08.1930, Mariupol - 25.08.2020, Kyiv) was an outstanding Ukrainian scientist in the field of theoretical physics of magnetic phenomena, solid state physics, Doctor of Sciences (1965), one of the organizers and the first dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
He was a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, his specialization is solid state physics, date of election: 29.3.1978. Honored Worker of Science of USSR (1980). Victor Grygorovych Baryakhtar was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the State for his outstanding personal merits towards Ukrainian state in the development of physical science, exceptional achievements in basic research organization, many years of fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity (21 August 2010).
In 1953 the scientist graduated with honors from the Kharkov State University. In 1959 he gained his candidate’s scientific degree, and in 1965 he became Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. In 1972 Victor Grygorovych was elected a corresponding member of USSR, in 1978, and an academician in 1978.
