Amosov Mykola (6/12/1913 village Olhovo modern Vologda region, RRSFR - 12.12.2002, Kyiv, buried in the Baikove cemetery ) - Ukrainian doctor, scientist in medicine and Biocybernetics, public figure, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1969) and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (1993), Winner of Lenin Prize (1961), USSR State Prize (1978, 1988) and State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (1997). Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery (1983 - 1988). Doctor of Medicine (1953).

M. M. Amosov - author of over 400 scientific works, including 19 monographs. Some monographs reprinted in the United States, Japan, Germany and Bulgaria. reprinted in the United States, Japan, Germany and Bulgaria. In his Institute are qualified 40 doctors and over 150 candidates, many of them are heads of major scientific centers. Mykola Mykhailovych Amosov ­­was widely known as a writer. His stories "Thoughts and Heart", "Notes from the Future", "GPR-2266", "The Book of Happiness and misery" repeatedly published in our country and abroad.

M.M. Amosov was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of USSR of five convocations. He was honored with many high government awards of the USSR and Ukraine. In 2003, the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was named after Academician Mykola Amosov.
