Every year polytechnics' cohort is replenished by several thousands of ambitious young people who are planning to link their future with technology and engineering. We are proud that they have chosen the Kiev Polytechnic, and are responsible for the quality of the education they will receive.
Enrollment plan of students in the KPI for government contracts in the last three years is about the same (2012 - 4352; 2013 - 4271, this year - 4311 people). The number of specialties remains at 123 The average number of contestants for one state order place has been growing steadily: in 2012 - 6.44; 2013 - 7.4; 2014 - 7.7.
This year for the first year 5096 students were enrolled (2012 - 4962, 2013 - 5224). Of these, on the state budget - 4311 (84.6%). Who are the current first-year students? Boys - 72.4% (about the same as in previous years), PSD graduates - 33.2% (more than before, which is a result of our consistent career guidance with students), medalists - 22.2% (in 2012 - 21.5%, in 2013 - 19.8%). The number of high school graduates slightly derceased - 94.2% (against 98.3% last year) and the number of graduates of technical and vocational schools increased - 5.8% (against 1.7% last year and 2.7% in 2012).
Most students like to study this year on the FSL (contest on applications - 56.42), FL - 36.65; FMM - 25.16; IPP - 18.1; FBE - 12.89; FAM - 12.28; FBT - 11.97; FICT - 10.79; IPT - 8.81. It can be noted following: there is high competition in the faculties, which the graduates SPT prefer. Always nice when there is in contest the graduates of high profile schools that do not give as much quantitative as qualitative inflow to the university. All three of the Lyceum, cooperating with NTUU"KPI", are among the school leaders in Kiev on the test results in mathematics and physics. Polytechnic school in this year 114 students graduated, 73% of which came in the KPI. They will learn: to FICT - 13, at the IPT - 12, IASA - 9, ESITS - 9, at the FAM - 6, FHPE - 5, IPP - 4, IME - 4 at the FEPEA - 3, FRE - 3, FE - 3, FPM - 2, FCT - 2, FBE-1, FMM - 1 on the basis of EIT in 2014, Lyceum "Intelligence" is a leader in r .. Kiev in mathematics, physics and English. In "KPI" took 36 graduates - on ESITS, IASA, FBB, FICT, FHPE, FASS, IME, FL, IPP. 23 graduates received scholarships to study at universities in Europe and America. Technical High School in the year ended 89 students entered in the KPI 70 (79%). They will learn: in IASA - 13 FICT - 11, at the IPT -11, ESITS - 4 at the FAM - 4, in the IME - 3 at FHPE - 3, FASS - 3,FEPEA - 3 FBE - 3, FE - 2, FIDE - 2, FCT - 2, FPM - 2, FW - 1, IESEM- 1 in IPP - 1.Areas of training, where competition for the submitted applications to the field of public order was the largest, mainly humanities: advertising and public relations - contest is 209.6 people in place, the international economy - 127.3; Jurisprudence - 105.3; enterprise economy - 87.5; Marketing - 75.0; Publishing and Editing - 74.8. This year was special for KPI, there were no specialities without contest, the lowest rate was more than 3.5. Fewer students expressed a desire to study in the areas of training: Engineering Materials - Competition 3.56 people in place, Optotehnika - 3.57; Foundry - 3.59. Although these specialties are always in demand of industry, and such professionals are in a constant demand in the labor market.
There are 785 first year students on the contract . On FICT - 160, FMM - 139, FSL - 132, in the IPP - 105 to FL - 71 FAM - 37 FBE - 32 and others. According to the contract form of training on the 5th year course were taken: for education and qualification level "specialist "- 117 people for full-time training and 178 people - on the correspondence; in the Masters - 128 people for full-time training and 147 - on the correspondence. On the state budget for 5th year 1607 people full-time training for the qualification "specialist" (in 2013 - 1370 persons) and 1,429 people full-time Masters (in 2013 - 1370 persons) were taken. These numbers are determined by the needs of the faculties because the contest was negligible.
Magistracy for research university in accordance with the new Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" should become the main form (up to 75% of bachelor degrees). At present, the KPI has masters and specialists about 50 to 50. At 34 specialties, we do not have competition in the magistracy. We can not lower the bar and devalue the title of Master, but should therefore attract in the magistracy not only "our own" bachelors, but also from other universities. Unfortunately, for the past three years the number of bachelors from the other universities, participating in the admission exams was not exceed 150 people.
In general, based on demographics and current statistics in Ukraine NTUU"KPI" successfully coped with its task of admission campaign: the state order is executed in full (as it is known, a number of technical universities in the country had problems with an enrollment of certain specialties) . We were fourth in the number of applications (after I. Franko Lviv university, the Shevchenko State University of Kyiv and Lviv Polytechnic), but only our university set the bar number of points EIT in Physics and Mathematics - 150 points. It was the right decision, we immediately filtered certain part, which obviously will not be able to learn. Our experience shows 150 points that we set, it was a positive decision. The first time this year we did the experiment (only the KPI and HPI) - for those entering the natural mathematical sciences and engineering areas of training competitive score certificate for non-core competitive subjects (Ukrainian language and literature) was evaluated by a factor of 0.75. It is possible not to lose students who had significant results in physics and mathematics, and take the best. By objective indicators - it's almost the best graduates: among our freshmen - 180 people who have had the result of EIT in physics or mathematics to 200 points, 400 were received by 198-199 points. After a detailed analysis to be determined, is it necessary to keep these requirements in the future and how to improve them.
Unfortunately, past experience shows that high scores applicants not guarantee their high level of training in mathematics and physics. In October of freshmen will be undergo a full input control in these subjects. First time it will be held in electronic form, so the actual level of knowledge of our first-graders will be determined by "e-campus" system."
According to the analysis of the results of the admission of students in the NTUU"KPI" in 2014, the tasks are determined to improve it. Need to continue to improve the forms and methods of work with applicants under the program "The Future of Ukraine", as well as in the system of pre-university training and specialized schools, engaging with the work of all the institutions, faculties and departments. It should also be analyzed the performance "Admission - issue", and uses them to make recommendations to the formation of the state order for 2015 It needs to be analyzed the results of admission to the master's degree for each speciality according to the competitive situation and the scientific potential of the departments (quotas masters) to form proposals for government order for the next year. Institutes, faculties and graduate departments must develop measures to further improve the work to recruit students for the 1st course and training programs for EQL "Specialist" and "Master", based on the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education".
