Not so many photos of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute period of the first years of its existence has survived to our time. Most of them are in albums, which were presented to the first rector of the KPI V.L. Kirpichov in 1902. Therefore, each new picture is very interesting to those who study the history of the Kiev Polytechnic.
In summer 2008, a collector Alexander Peresadko presented to the State Polytechnic Museum "KPI" picture. There is the inscription on the back of the photo: "To dear Mr. Vovchenko. D.Nedzvetsky. 22.VI.1903 ». Just below, it was added by different handwriting: "Geodetic works. "In a campaign." June 1903 ". In addition, below there is a list of "Georgiy Nikolayevich Titarenko, Dmitri Iosifovich. Nedzvedsky, Michael Žygimantaitis Sivitsky, Semen Diomidovich Kravchenko, Vladislav Ivanovich Vovchenko, Alexander Alexandrovich Kokurin, Stanislav Rodovich."
The lists of students of Kiev Polytechnic Institute, held in the university library, included almost all named in this list. In 1903, they were students of the mechanical department (except S.D.Kravchenko - student of chemical department and B.P.Rodovich – student of the engineering department). The list contains the dates of birth of students - from 1876 to 1884. There is also their social origin, educational institutions, which they graduated before being admitted into KPI.
From the list you can see that Vovchenko, Kokurin, Titarenko originated from the middle class, Kravchenko, Nedzvedskogo - sons of officials, Sivitsky - the son of a nobleman. Vovchenko and Titarenko graduated Cherkasy high school, Kravchenko and Nedzvedsky - Odessa real school, Kokurin - Nizhny Novgorod secondry Mechanics and Technical College. Dates of graduation are 1901 and 1902. The eldest of them - Sivitsky - graduated in 1895 Alexandrov Military Academy, Lieutenant. There is no information about Rodovich.
In 1903, all these young people were students I and II years KPI, who turned 5 years old then. Photo immortalized interesting moment in the life of students - polytechnics early twentieth century - the beginning of summer surveying practice. The area in front of the newly built main building of the institute had not yet ordered, trees have not yet grown up, and there is ahead long and interesting life...
However, the fate of young people is unknown. I only know that D.I.Nedzvedsky worked as a teacher KPI, at least in 1914-1918. However, because someone in 1903 took a photo, wrote the names, we know about these people.
The popularity of State Polytechnic Museum is growing steadily. It becomes famous to residents and guests of the city. Therefore, the people hand on a variety of interesting materials, helping to maintain and reconstruct the history of our university.
We appeal to all who are interested in the history of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with a request to bring the materials - photos, diplomas and other documents (notes, drawings) to the museum. All of them will be presented in the museum and saved for posterity.
