Every year, school graduates - participants and winners of national and international competitions and Olympiads - join the student community of Kyiv Polytechnic. Among the most active are students of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU “KPI”. The newspaper “Kyiv Polytechnic” has repeatedly told about lyceum students-inventors - pupils of the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences, who later became students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and their mentors. We continue this good tradition.

INOVA show of inventions and innovations. On October 16-19, 2024, the traditional International Innovation Show “INOVA” was held - an exhibition of inventions that has been held in Zagreb (Croatia) since 1971. This show of inventions and innovations is one of the oldest scientific events that annually brings together inventors from Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, North and South America. This year, the exhibition brought together about 500 participants from 20 countries. The Ukrainian delegation was represented by 31 participants.

“INOVA 2024 has become another vivid confirmation of the talent and strong scientific potential of Ukrainian youth. Young scientists demonstrated their innovative projects in the international arena, proving that Ukrainian inventors are capable of changing the world,” the Kyiv Branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences proudly says.

Sophia Stolyar, an 11th grade student of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU “KPI”, brought gold to our team. Her project “Development of an intelligent system for automating the monitoring and management of the transport system of Kyiv using artificial intelligence” (supervisors: computer science teacher Ivan Komarov and head of the Department of Engineering and Materials Science of the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences Stanislava Ignatova) also took third place in the All-Ukrainian competition-defense of the Junior Academy of Sciences in 2023/2024. Sofia also took part in the International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students and Postgraduates “Prospects for the Development of Information and Telecommunication Technologies and Systems” on the basis of the XVIII International Scientific and Technical Conference “Prospects for Telecommunications 2024”.

And we recall the achievements of lyceum students of previous years, now students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, about whom Kyiv Polytechnic wrote: “Andriy Mavrin's “gold” at INOVA-2023 (see KP #31-32, 2023), gold medals at INOVA-2022 for Andriy Mavrin, Anastasia Kurulenko, Mykhailo Mutskyi and Ihor Klymenko (see KP #31-32, 2022), and Sofia Pavlova brought a gold medal from INOVA-2021 (see KP #37-38, 2021 and KP #39-40, 2022).

Warsaw exhibition. The International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS) took place on October 14-16, 2024. The event was attended by representatives from many countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, who demonstrated about 300 inventions.

Our country was represented by the team of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which included 9 young scientists. The team won 3 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze medals and 5 special awards.

Arina Khmeliuk, an 11th grade student of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU “KPI”, received a silver medal and a special prize from the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations. The day before, at the All-Ukrainian competition-defense of the Junior Academy of Sciences, her project “Improving the waste sorting process using a neural network” (supervisors: Ivan Komarov, Oleg Kozlenko) took first place. In addition, in the summer, the girl completed a three-week training program called BizCamp, and in September she successfully competed in the final of the regional stage of the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge.

Once again, we recall the lyceum students who won medals in previous years and then became students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and continue their inventive activities. At IWIS 2020: “Stanislav Skorobohatov and Volodymyr Karan won gold, and Varvara Babych won silver (see KP #18, 2021 and KP #33-34, 2021), and at IWIS 2022: “Andrii Mavrin won gold and Mykhailo Mutskyi won silver (project managers: Oleh Kozlenko, Oksana Spivak, see KP #3-4, 2023).

“Our students have once again demonstrated their extraordinary abilities in the international arena. Among hundreds of entries from around the world, they won brilliant victories. We are proud that the lyceum students continue the best traditions of the lyceum - victories in international competitions and confident integration into the world scientific space,” the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU ‘KPI’ emphasizes.
