On July 29, Masahito Moriyama, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, visited Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda and Deputy Director General of the Directorate for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Stella Shapoval.

They got acquainted with the Ukrainian-Japanese Center of the University, talked to students of Japanese language courses and visited the ikebana exhibition, which featured the works of students and teachers of the Eastern European branch of the Ikenobo School.
Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Anatoliy Melnychenko met with the distinguished guests. He expressed his gratitude to Masahito Moriyama and Kuninori Matsuda for their interest in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the university's Ukrainian-Japanese Center and praised the activities of the Ukrainian-Japanese Center as a bridge of cooperation between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and partners in Japan in the educational, scientific, technical and cultural spheres. He also confirmed that cooperation with partners in Japan will continue to be a priority for Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
During his visit to the library of the UJC, Masahito Moriyama presented this cultural center with a photo album with views of the Land of the Rising Sun, the author's journalistic publication “Toward a Universal Society”, and a collection of hoku written by M. Moriyama in collaboration with his wife.
In a brief interview with university media representatives, Asamura Takao, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, emphasized that Minister Masahito Mariyama believes that Japan's support for Ukraine will continue in the area of restoring buildings and industrial infrastructure destroyed during the Russian aggression. The official believes that further cooperation between Japan and educational institutions in Ukraine is equally important. M. Mariyama plans to meet with the Minister of Science and Education of Ukraine to launch a five-year project that will send 20 Ukrainian students to Japan every year. It is possible that Kyiv Polytechnics will be among the invited students.

Masahito Moriyama visited the cities of Irpin and Bucha in Kyiv region and met with ministers of the Ukrainian government. Representatives of Japan and Ukraine discussed joint projects and opportunities for further cooperation in the cultural and educational spheres.
“We believe that culture and art, even in times of war, give people the strength to live, and are also a bridge between countries. We would like to deepen cultural exchanges between our countries with maximum support. Japan is also a country that upholds the values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. We want to continue to provide comprehensive support for Ukraine's recovery,” emphasized Masahito Moriyama, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
