Last November, the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science celebrated its 60th anniversary. But due to problems with the power supply caused by the razist shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities, the celebration had to be postponed. It was only on May 19 that the faculty's celebration, "F Day," was held offline in building 18.
The day before, the Day F 2023 Online Hackathon was held for two days, during which students wrote code, worked in teams, tested their endurance and competed for awards. The winner was the Nuclear Gandhi team consisting of Dmytro Buyal, Denys Malanichev, Margarita Ponomarenko, Vladyslav Tkach, and Daniil Butov.
At the opening of Day F, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky congratulated all those present on the anniversary of the faculty, noted its achievements and wished new creative success. For their significant contribution to the development of the faculty, their initiative and activity in organizing events that promote the development of students and support the image of the university, the rector awarded the heads of the departments Serhii Stirenko, Oleksandr Rolik, Eduard Zharikov, and the deputy dean Olena Khalus with letters of appreciation. Former deans of the faculty, Oleksandr Pavlov and Serhii Telenyk, were also awarded letters of appreciation for their significant contribution to the development of the faculty and outstanding scientific achievements. Next, according to the program of Day F, a panel discussion on "IT in Ukraine, Development and Prospects. Artificial Intelligence". It was attended by Pavlo Kartashov, Director of the Ukrainian Startup Fund, Sergiy Lytvynenko, Director of the Visual Intelligence R&D Department at Samsung R&D Institute Ukraine, and Diana Rakus, Head of the Expert Group on Investment Attraction and Team Leader of Educational Projects at the Ministry of Digital Transformation. At the same time, lectures were held at the FIOT HAB, where students could learn more about the prospects for IT in Ukraine and personally communicate with experts. Oleg Karizkyi from Flyer One Ventures spoke on the topic of attracting investments for student initiatives. Pavlo Kartashov spoke about the prospects and challenges of IT startups in Ukraine and abroad. Vilen Zein from DataArt gave a lecture on SEO for Frontend. Representatives of Infopulse and Softserve organized a job fair. The lobby hosted the long-awaited final of the Minecraft cyber tournament. The winner was the PDF File team consisting of: Evgeny Goncharov, Roman Duda, Alexander Zagrebelny, Vladimir Kaplysh, and Yaroslav Gordienko. Board games, a photo zone, popcorn, raffles, and prizes were popular among the students present. In total, "Day F" brought together about 500 students, university staff and guests.
The "F Day" program ended with a concert program. Roman Silchuk, Dmytro Dmitriev, Stefan Muzyka, and other bands performed, including RaveNest, Stratoslav, Hotel and Restaurant Complex 227, NUDES, and 2tone.
Of course, "Day F" was held and was a success thanks to the active participation and assistance in its organization and conduct of the Vice-Rector of the University Natalia Seminska, Dean of the FIPT Yaroslav Kornaha, Head of the Department of Organizational and Educational Work with Students of the DIPT Yulia Boguk, student activists of the faculty, Chairman of the Student Council of the FIPT Vladislav Vovk, and the KPI Coliseum.
