The International Scientific Seminar "Functional Spintronic Nanomaterials for Radiation Detection and Energy Harvesting" was held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on September 25-27, 2023.
It was organized on the basis of the E.O. Paton Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding with the financial support of the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program.
On the opening day, the participants of the event were greeted by the rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky and co-leaders of the seminar - Professor Burkard Hillerbrands of the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (Germany) and Director of the E.O. Paton Institute of Materials Science and Welding, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Ihor Volodymyrsky. The participants of the workshop listened to 30 reports presented by recognized experts in the field of spintronics and physics of magnetic materials from Germany, Ukraine, Austria, Belgium, Turkey, Spain, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Speaking about the results of the workshop, Igor Vladimirsky said: "This event is a continuation of many years of cooperation with colleagues from other countries - members of the international consortium, within which Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute scientists have successfully completed more than one project. Employees and applicants for higher education of the Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding named after E.O. Paton and other structural subdivisions of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute had the opportunity to join the seminar, listen to reports of famous scientists, and present the results of their own research. It is important to note that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute students had the opportunity to improve their professional communication skills in English, which improves the prospects of their future work at the international level. In addition, the participants of the seminar allowed the materials of their reports to be used in the educational process of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which will significantly improve the quality of teaching of relevant professional disciplines."
Finally, it should be added that during the seminar, agreements were reached on the submission of new joint projects to grant programs, the consortium of which will include Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Improving the knowledge and skills of young scientists, attracting NATO technologies and creating the basis for new research in the field of nanomagnetism.
Among the speakers are leading scientists from Ukraine, Europe and the United States.
