The staff of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" was personally congratulated on the 125th anniversary of the university by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also got acquainted with the developments of Kyiv polytechnics and talked to students, teachers and scientists of the university.
"The National Technical University is well known in the world and is famous in different countries whose people studied here. And most importantly, the university has gained what is so important for all Ukrainians now - trust. The university has gained trust. And it is a well-deserved trust. Because the university is really strong. I thank you for supporting the strength and glory of Kyiv Polytechnic!" the President began his speech in the meeting room of the Academic Council.
The head of our state spoke about the importance of knowledge, education and competence in peaceful and especially in wartime; about new technologies that really strengthen the state's ability to protect itself and its defense capabilities, and ultimately bring the Ukrainian victory closer; about how Ukraine is becoming stronger together with Ukrainian education, and about other important things for the national scientific and educational sector.
"Education is of great importance. And when it is so for us, Ukraine will be of great importance. For everyone in the world. I wish you a very fruitful new academic year and a speedy victory to all of us!" Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded his address to polytechnics and, of course, to all scientists and educators of the country with these words.
During the conversation with Kyiv Polytechnics, the President emphasized the importance of further development of digital technologies and noted that it was very important that the state began to develop cooperation with the IT sector even before the full-scale Russian invasion. This, he believes, helped protect our institutions from enemy cyberattacks and intensify work on the latest weapons, missiles, drones, etc. He also noted that creativity, intelligence, and memory need to be constantly trained, and it is important not to lose the educational experience gained. Therefore, we should support the competitiveness of our universities in the world.
"The most important thing is to allow science to develop at universities. So that people do not want to change their profession, so that scientists are involved. And if they want to develop something, they should have this opportunity here. There should be a state order, and business should be interested in such specialists," the President is sure.
At the end of the meeting, the rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky, presented the Head of State with two etchings by Honored Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Ivanov-Akhmetov with portraits of former students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Serhiy Korolyov and Igor Sikorsky, as well as a beautiful publication about the history, present and prospects of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, prepared for the 125th anniversary of the university.
