On the occasion of the Youth Day, which is celebrated on August 12, diplomas were awarded to the winners of the Kyiv Mayor's Award for Special Achievements of Youth in the Development of the Capital of Ukraine - the Hero City of Kyiv in 2023 in the Column Hall of the Kyiv City State Administration. Among the awardees are many representatives of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The award was founded in 2016. It is awarded annually for outstanding achievements in the development of the capital of Ukraine - the hero city of Kyiv to citizens of Ukraine aged 14 to 35 years, whose place of residence is registered in Kyiv. This year's recipients are: 20 youth representatives for scientific achievements (half of them are polytechnics!), 15 for creative achievements, and 15 for contribution to the development of the youth movement.
"Honoring you with this award shows recognition of your successful work for the development of the Ukrainian capital. The city will continue to support the youth movement, talented and active young people. Because you are the future of our country! And it is up to you to build a successful and strong Ukraine," said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. "I also thank our young volunteers for their active work and for helping our defenders. I wish you strength, success, self-confidence, and a speedy Victory to all of us!"
So, we congratulate the young scientists who prove with their achievements that Kyiv Polytechnic is a powerful scientific and educational environment, the best university not only in the capital but also in Ukraine. Here are the names of the winners in the Scientific Achievement nomination:

In addition, graduates of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU "KPI", pupils of the Kyiv Minor Academy of Sciences Andriy Mavrin, Vasyl Strashnyi, Pavlo Shekhet, and Danylo Chuvaykin also received diplomas. All of them worked on scientific projects under the guidance of Oleh Kozlenko, head of the FMF Cryogenic Technology Laboratory, they all studied in the same class, so their class teacher, physics teacher Oksana Spivak, was the pedagogical supervisor of their work and helped at all stages, and they are all students of the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences' Department of Technical Sciences and have always received methodological and organizational support from Stanislava Ihnatova, head of this department.
"Kyiv Polytechnic" plans to inform about the achievements of the winners on its pages. Today's story is about Andriy Mavrin, who has just entered Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to study Systems Analysis.
The list of his awards at various competitions and festivals will take more than one line. After all, the projects he is working on are environmentally friendly and very relevant. One of them is dedicated to recycling tires using the cryovibration method. Worn-out tires are frozen in liquid nitrogen, processed at a certain frequency, and they turn into rubber crumbs. The steel cord is separated and melted down, and the crushed rubber is also useful - it is suitable for making new tires, paving slabs, etc. Andriy is also working on improving devices for cleaning the surface of water bodies from oil films. His suggestion to use Möbius tape instead of double-breasted tape was understood and supported by experts, as it increases work efficiency.
By the way, the name of Andriy Mavrin has already appeared on the pages of our newspaper (see KP, No. 3-4, 2023). As well as publications about his predecessors - laureates of the KSCA Head Prize, graduates of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU "KPI", pupils of V. Kozlenko and A. Minitsky, who also came to study at the ER IASA - Yelyzaveta Stolyarchuk and Volodymyr Karan (see "KP" №18, 2021). A good growing change.
