Dear Kyiv polytechnicians! On June 28, 1996, the modern stage of the constitutional development of Ukraine began. This event guaranteed the legal foundations of independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our country has acquired the status of a state of international law.
This year's Constitution Day is more important for us than ever. We meet it against the background of the bloody war for our independence, acutely aware of the meaning of such terms as "right to life" and "territorial integrity" written in our Basic Law.
Ukraine has existed on the world map as an independent state for 30 years, and for eight of them we have been subjected to encroachments on our territories, violations of the rights of our citizens, and humiliation of our language and culture. This is the 125th day when every Ukrainian suffers war. This war is a struggle of the values of the civilized world against darkness and barbarism, a struggle of a democratic society against a dictatorial regime.
Constitution Day is another reason to realize what we are fighting for and what our course is. We are convinced that our victory is inevitable, because the Ukrainian state-building process is getting stronger and stronger, because it is based on the dignity and civic responsibility of all Ukrainians.
These days, our country has become a candidate for joining the European Union, taking another step towards the values and freedoms of the civilized world, towards which independent Ukraine has been constantly moving all these years and which are proclaimed in our Basic Law.
Against the background of the history of other European countries, the Ukrainian Constitution is quite young, but this does not belittle its importance: democratic values are at its core: the defense of the rights and freedoms of every Ukrainian man and woman, the defense of the right to freedom of speech, thought, movement, religion, political choice, private-property right, rights of business people, etc.
On Ukrainian territory, a person, their life and freedom are above all, that is why all of us united to protect our lives, our lands and our sovereignty. State institutions, business, activists and volunteers — all work together for a common goal: the protection of our freedom and independence and the victory of Ukraine.

Happy Constitution Day, dear friends!
Glory to Ukraine!
