Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute team took part in the Ukrainian climbing championship among students, which took place on March 11-13 in Kremenchuk. The competition was held in three disciplines: "speed", "difficulty" and "all-around". Almost 30 athletes from 11 higher education institutions in seven regions of Ukraine - Kharkiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Kyiv and Kyiv oblast - gathered to show their skills.
The Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute team consisted of six athletes. For objective reasons, the team went to the championship with not full and young squad and these competitions were a real test for them. And the youth successfully defended the honour of the university. The members of the team turned out to be young only in terms of age, and they have tons of experience in sports achievements.
Following the results of competitions among regions the team of the Kiev polytechnics took the first place in all disciplines! And in the competition among higher education institutions, our team took second place in the disciplines of "all-around" and "difficulty".
In the individual competition, our athletes also have achievements: Anastasiia Tyshchenko (TEF) won 3rd place, and Nadiia Sichkar (VPI) - 6th place; Anastasiia Tyshchenko (TEF) took the 2nd place, Nadiia Sichkar (VPI) took the 3rd place, and Andrii Aseko-Nkili (FTI) took the 4th place. The team was prepared by Vadym Mykhailenko, a senior lecturer at FBMI, and Yevhen Kozak, the head of KPISkalaClimbingTeam.
I am sure that the climbing skills that students acquire will be useful to them in later life and professional activities. We also have examples of involving our athletes in rescue operations by the Ministry of Emergencies.
We wish our team new victories and achievements. And we invite everyone to climbing classes. Many thanks to the leader of our club, coach and ideological inspirer of all endeavours Yevhen Kozak and all those who helped our team in preparation for the competition, cheered for us. And to athletes - good health and new sports achievements.
