26 August 2020 Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Rector signed the order to create Educational and Research Center "Noosphere Engineering School KPI". Hanna Volodymyrivna Sarybog, a senior lecturer at the Department of Electronic Devices and Systems of FEL, has been appointed the scientific director of the centre. KP correspondent talks to her.
- For what tasks is the "Noosphere Engineering School KPI" created?
- In the most general plan, the purpose of creation of the centre is to promote expansion and strengthening of cooperation of workers of science, education, industry and business through development of effective mechanisms of innovative interaction of our university with scientific and technical and business circles of Ukraine. In addition, the Centre will help improve the organization of the educational process in order to increase the level of educational and scientific training of applicants for higher engineering education.
The Centre will conduct research on the market of engineering, technological, innovative projects, as well as organize competitions for innovative projects and start-ups, including the Sikorsky Challenge, and will promote the implementation of promising innovative projects.
All this should help to attract applicants for higher education and research and teaching staff to implement creative ideas and gain practical experience in such activities.
I note that one of the tasks of the Centre is to implement engineering projects under the cooperation agreement, which Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute signed with the Public Organization "Noosphere Association" in 2020.
- What is this association and how will you cooperate with it?
- "Noosphere Association” (https://noosphereglobal.com/uk/) – is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, with a goal to promote science, unite scientists and researchers to develop science and technology in the business environment at the global level. The association is supported by technology companies working in various areas of the digital economy - from e-commerce to the development of space technology. The team of the Association, led by Max Polyakov, believes in the "realm of the mind", where human activity significantly changes the world around us, combining knowledge and technology.
Together with the leading universities of Ukraine, the Noosphere Association has launched the Noosphere Engineering School project. This project combines the efforts of Noosphere top managers, university professors and teachers, students and graduate students. ESC "Noosphere Engineering School" was previously established in Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Cherkasy, Kyiv. The Noosphere Association not only provides methodological support to these ESCs, but also finances their activities, including the implementation of engineering projects, creates and equips specialized laboratories on the basis of universities.
I have been cooperating with the Association for about a year. Prior to the introduction of quarantine, I saw them open schools in other cities.
- What types of activities will the headed by you centre carry out?
- First, it is conducting research and implementation of student projects in the laboratory on the basis of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
We plan to hold events to promote technical education and attract talented young people to engineering.
We will create creative teams from among the scientific and pedagogical workers and applicants for higher education in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and we will support their activities at all stages of engineering project development.
We will conduct master classes, seminars, thematic competitions, as well as participate in competitions, engineering competitions, career guidance, educational, scientific and cultural events held in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
We will also assist students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to implement the acquired knowledge, skills, practical and scientific results of work in the educational process: methods of laboratory work, course projects, diploma theses of bachelors and master's theses.
- In what areas of technology (engineering) can be projects supported by your ESC?
- In any. Mechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, aircraft and rocketry, IT. We will work with students from all faculties. We will teach them how to turn ideas into projects. Actually, not to teach, but to help carry out projects. We will provide equipment, support with knowledge. There will be a laboratory where they will be able to implement their ideas, and if the ideas are promising, they will receive scholarships and the necessary equipment, which should result in a start-up that can be submitted to the Sikorsky Challenge Festival or other competition. We also need managers and marketers. They will be able to learn how to evaluate the project, how to submit it to the market.
So, I invite innovators and those who want to become them, to the ESC "Noosphere Engineering School KPI". Our telegram-channel https://t.me/neskpi, web-site URL https://noosphereengineering.com/.
