From October 12 to November 1, the university carried out activities of the first calendar control of the implementation of individual curricula by students of 1-4 year of bachelor's degrees and 1st year of master's degree. According to the new Regulations on current, calendar and semester control of studying success in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (approved by the order of the rector from 05.08.2020 № 7/137) calendar control is carried out twice a semester necessarily at the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education.
Traditionally, the results of calendar control are entered by teachers into the appropriate module in the system "Electronic Campus" (EC) and are available for viewing by students and management of graduate departments. This allows for substantive analysis and discussion of the results at meetings of departments and to determine the reasons for students' non-compliance with individual curricula.
Given the availability of elective courses, for this calendar control in addition to the traditional grades "satisfactory" (s) and "unsatisfactory" (us), the university introduced an additional grade "not studying" (ns), which is used exclusively for elective courses and is given to those students who not study the selective discipline. The EC provides explanations for teachers on the peculiarities of the application of new assessments.
The general results of calendar control are as follows.
At the bachelor's level, 16,924 students took part in the calendar control, of which 55.3% received a grade of "satisfactory" in all disciplines and 17%, on the contrary, have unsatisfactory results in all disciplines, indicating regular non-compliance with individual curricula and requirements of rating systems.
Compared to the first calendar control of the 2019/2020 academic year, the results are improved at the Institute for Applied System Analysis, the Institute of Telecommunications Systems, the Faculty of Radio Engineering, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biotechnics and the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.
