On November 9, 2020, the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute broadcasted a session online.
Before discussing the agenda items, a moment of silence was devoted to the memory of Member of the Academic Council, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology Igor Mykhailovich Astrelin, who passed away on October 23.
The first agenda item of the Academic Council concerned competition affairs - recommendations for awarding academic titles and electing the Counting Commission. Scientific Secretary of the University Valeriia Kholiavko and Chairman of the Academic Council Mykhailo Ilchenko reported on the item.
Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky covered some issues of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute management, in particular changes in the structure and management system. Mykhailo Zakharovych also congratulated the staff of our University on receiving state awards.
Next, the participants discussed improving of the management of the University scientific activity according to the Coordinating Council. Vice-rector for Scientific work Vitaliy Pasichnyk reported and presented a general concept of improving the management of research projects, described a procedure for selecting projects for the state budget research competition, focused on the need to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the university's participation in international competitions and projects. Vitaliy Pasichnyk also informed about the development and implementation of the system managing the publishing activity of the University scientists, implementation of the University's policy in intellectual property and intensification of research groups in the Innovative Ecosystem "Sikorsky Challenge".
After that, the organization of the educational process under quarantine at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was considered. Vice-rector Yuriy Yakymenko reported on the agenda item. He announced the results of the University admissions 2020, provided information on the distance learning mode and forms of control, as well as internal accreditation of education programs in 2020. In addition, the Academic Council members were informed about the current competitive selection of research and teaching staff at faculties / institutes.
The next agenda item was the report of Chairman of the Commission of the Academic Council on Ethics and Academic Integrity, Director of Hryhorii Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library Oksana Brui on the culture of academic integrity of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. She insisted on close cooperation and joint work of the Academic Council Commission on Ethics and Academic Integrity and the working group on academic honesty of the university, the Department for Student Affairs, the Department of Educational Quality, the Department of Educational Process, the Department of Science and Innovation, Hryhorii Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library, student councils, faculties and institutes to prevent plagiarism and develop a culture of academic integrity at the Uniersity.
Finally, the meeting participants managed current affairs, including the creation of specialized scientific councils for the Doctor of Philosophy dissertation defense, approval of doctoral dissertations themes, recommendations for the publication of scientific periodicals, monographs and educational publications.
