A delegation of the Central Office of the Security Service of Ukraine visited Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on October 20 and had the aim to discuss cooperation in the field of information security, cybersecurity and its strategy.
The delegation included Deputy Head of the SSU Volodymyr Gorbenko, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity of Ukraine Oleksii Korniichuk, Head of the SSU Cyber Security Situation Centre Oleksandr Sepalov, Deputy Head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine Oleksandr Potii.
The guests saw the exhibits of the State Polytechnic Museum in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. and got acquainted with the equipment and capabilities of the Information and Analytical Situation Center. Then at the conference room of the Administrative Council two sides discussed further cooperation. Rector Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky, Vice-rector for Administrative Affairs Vadym Kondratyuk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Anatolii Melnychenko, Chairman of the Academic Council Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, Director of the Institute of Physics and Technology Oleksii Novikov, Head of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Radio Engineering Fedor Dubrovka, Director of the World Data Center Kostyantyn Yefremov, Director of the Institute of Specialized Communication and Information Security Oleksandr Puchkov, Vice-rector of the Research and Development Division Yurii Sydorenko and others.
Opening the meeting, Mykhailo Zgurovsky noted that the list of areas which the SSU would like to cooperate in was quite wide, so it was simply impossible to cover all the proposed issues in one meeting. To begin with, he suggested considering several areas that might be interesting for joint work today. After that, the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute representatives presented the following topics for the guests: "Scientific development and training in the field of cybersecurity" (Oleksii Novikov), "Multibeam antenna systems of electronic reconnaissance" (Fedor Dubrovka), "Remote sensing of the Earth" (Mykhailo Ilchenko), "World Data Center" (Kostyantyn Yefremov), "Training in the system of ДСІЗІ" (Oleksandr Puchkov), "Experience of retraining for the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine" (Anatolii Melnychenko).
In their speeches, the members of the SSU delegation detailed the areas in which they were particularly interested in cooperation and expressed their preferences.
To sum up the results of the meeting, Mykhailo Zgurovsky stressed that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was open to cooperate with the SSU, and its implementation needed organized meetings of professionals in certain areas. And, of course, personnel training should take into account contemporary challenges in the field of information security and cybersecurity.
