The opening and presentation of the new educational-scientific laboratory of automated monitoring and managing systems for power supply systems was held on March 6. The laboratory was created by joint efforts of the IEE Power Supply Department and the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine within the framework of the cooperation agreement.
The opening of the educational and research laboratory was preceded by courses for teachers and post-graduate students of the electric power department “Monitoring of the parameters of operating modes of power systems” conducted by enterprise “Aniger” together with the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The staff of the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine also conducted lectures and practical classes for the students of the department: “Technical means and methods of management”, “Monitoring and control of electrical energy quality”, “Electromagnetic compatibility in integrated power supply systems” and “Electric power stations and substations”.
Equipment, installed in the educational-laboratory, allows the recording of analog and discrete signals, analyzing the development of emergencies, assessing the functioning of relay protection and automation devices, determining the locations of damage in short circuits on power lines, determining the residual life of high-voltage switches, receiving daily information of modes, as well as transfer registered and processed information to any higher levels of management. The equipment for the laboratory was kindly provided by the enterprises of the SE “Kyivprylad” in the form of two microprocessor devices for protection, automation, control and management of the connections and the information and diagnostic complex “Regina” from “Aniger”.
The main tasks to be solved on the basis of the educational and scientific laboratory:
- immediate, on-line, providing information in the necessary, sometimes quite small, real-time automatic control (automatic regulation, automation, relay protection, tracking, etc.);
- immediate, on-line, providing information of automated and manual operating-dispatch control;
- data accumulation, creation of databases, knowledge bases, archives;
- conducting of the retrospective (trends, directions, estimation of development), current (observation, control, diagnostics, pattern recognition) and perspective (forecast, planning) of situation analysis and assessment of the state of monitoring objects;
- organization of transmission and exchange of monitoring information between objects and subjects related to technological processes in power industry.
At the opening of the laboratory there were academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Olexandr Vasylyovych Kyrylenko and Borys Stogniy, Director of the IEE S.P.Delynysyuk, the head of the department of electric supply V.A.Popov, head of the department of automation of control of electrotechnical systems V.P. Rozen, head of the department of electromechanical equipment of energy-intensive industries S.P. Shevchuk, the collaborator of the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, employees and students of the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of the Igor Sikorsky KPI. The participants had an opportunity to take part in discussing the prospects for the development of a new laboratory in order to improve the quality of training specialists in the specialty “Electric power, electrical engineering and electromechanics” and conducting courses and master classes in monitoring and management within the framework of the Smart Grid concept.
Academician O.V.Kyrylenko, Head of the Department of Physical and Technical Problems of Energy Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, noted the importance of creating an advanced laboratory with the latest equipment. “I hope that the on-the-ground scientific laboratory will become a base for conducting research at the world level and an important element of the educational process,” he said.
Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine B.S. Stogniy, scientific director of the project on the creation of a research laboratory, emphasized that this is the first educational and scientific laboratory in Ukraine, in which a modern, high-precision information-diagnostic complex “Regina”: "Over 1,000 such registrars have been exploited on different sites in Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaidjan and Kazakhstan, and it is very important that students and scientists have access to modern technological solutions in the electroenergetic sector. Technical data of transfer appliances can solve many problems associated with the registration modes of electrical networks, the definition of electrical and time parameters, finding damage to power lines, electrical diagnostics and so on”.
Director IEE Professor S.P. Denisyuk highlighted the further development of the laboratory in order to integrate existing laboratories of energy saving technologies, control and management of energy efficiency regimes into a single cluster for a detailed analysis of the modes of electric supply and conducting of the experiments :Creation of an educational and scientific laboratory of automated systems of monitoring and control of electrical supply systems is an important stage in the development of the institute. It is pleasant that the advanced scientific institutions of the country, private energy sector encourage the introduction of advanced research practices in the learning process”.
In the end, all attendees were able to attend a lecture on the structure and designation of the “Regina”, conducted by the scientific co-author of the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ph.D., Yu.V.Pylypenko. He spoke about the key structural features, the results and examples of the implementation of information and diagnostic complex in Ukraine and abroad.
