September 13, 2018 Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was visited by a delegation of one of the world's largest telecommunication companies, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. It consisted of Director of the Pew Zhong Mining Research Center, director of Kyiv Research Center Liu Xiaohut, and Senior Public Relations Manager Mykola Ushakov.
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was represented by the first vice-rector of the university, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yuriy Yakymenko, Vice-rector of the University for International Relations Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Sydorenko and Deputy Vice-rector for international relations Ksenia Yudkova.
The purpose of Huawei's visit to Kyiv Polytechnic was to discuss further cooperation in the field of education and science and the prospects for the formation and signing of the Framework Cooperation Agreement.
The Chinese side expressed its interest in further co-operation in those areas in which cooperation has already been established, and also expressed wishes for finding new directions. The company is interested in particular in the sphere of cybersecurity, antennas, and the creation of a joint structure on the basis of our university.
Representatives of Huawei emphasized the feasibility of setting up specialized working groups to work more closely with the Kyiv Polytechnic institutions.
Yuriy Yakymenko spoke about the annual Sikorsky Challenge start-up festival and invited Huawei's specialists to work as part of the international jury of the festival.
The issues of opening at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Academy of Huawei also were discussed. Proposals were prepared for the preparation of specific framework agreements for the implementation of the project.
