April, 20 Igor Sikorsky KPI was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea, Li Yang Gu. He was accompanied by Director of the Korean Educational Center in Ukraine Yu Sang Bom.
The guests met the rector of the Igor Sikorsky KPI, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Michael Zgurovskyi, Vice-Rector of the University for International Relations, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Sydorenko, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Department of International Cooperation Andriy Shysholin and others.
The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of deepening of scientific cooperation between the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kiev Polytechnic Institute” and the Korean universities.
In addition, within the framework of preparation for a visit to the KPI, the delegation of the Korean National University Chonbuk (Chonbuk National University, or CNU), which should take place in early May, discussed possible areas of cooperation with Korean colleagues. These are space technology, chemical technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, etc. The corresponding project proposals will be handed over to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea next week by staff of the Department of International Cooperation.
The conversation also raised the issue of implementing the idea of creating a Igor Sikorsky KPI based-joint Ukrainian-Korean innovation center, which was presented by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Li Yang Gu, during his first visit to the university. In the opinion of Michael Zgurovskyi, the core of such a center should be the Innovative Ecosystem of KPI “Sikorsky Challenge”, which is centered around innovative enterprises, research organizations and universities from Ukraine and other countries. Of course, an important prerequisite for speeding up the Center's creation process is the involvement of as many Korean universities and innovation structures as possible in its work.
