On February 12, 2018, there was another meeting of the Academic Council of the University. It began with giving the memorial certificate of the British Council to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and giving certificates of the British Council to the members of the project team: B.I.Duda, O.V.Yarovyi, A.V.Piatova, V.A.Pasichnik, O.K.Sulema, O.A.Zhuchenko and V.V.Holiavko. Also, First Pro-rector Yu.I.Yakymenko thanked the support team of the project team:Ya.I.Lavrenko, A.S.Romashko, and R.A.Pashhkov.
The first issue on the agenda was the report of Pro-rector M.Yu. Ilchenko on "Science and Innovation in 2017: with concrete actions and hopes for changes for the better". Mykhailo Yukhymovych said that 2017 became a year of further implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On scientific and scientific-technical activity" for the science of Ukraine. The results of 2017 have been presented in the annual information- analytical collection "The Science of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute - 2017" and the catalog "Innovations of the university", which are already available on the Internet. The issue of the preparation of scientific staff and scientific work of students and young researchers was considered. Also, Mykhailo Yukhymovych presented the information concerning the budget of science, publication activity of scientists, scientific publications and conferences, innovation activities of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, university infocommunication networks, development of the scientific and technical library, museum affairs and the acknowledgment of scientists’ achievements.
The next issue was the speech on the results of the international activity of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 2017 and tasks for 2018, made by Rro-rector on foreign affairs S.I.Sydorenko and read by Deputy Pro-rector S.M. Shukaiev. The information on organizational and regulatory and methodological support for the development of the international sphere, on international contacts and ways of interaction between departments and units within the development of international relations in all areas was provided. The international and educational projects of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute were considered as well as the current problems and tasks, the course on deeper internationalization of the university in particular: strengthening of the international component in all directions of its activity. Sergiy Mykolaiovych also presented the project of the University Internationalization Program.
Then the Academic Council considered the competition issues and current affairs, the issue of supporting the works for the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of education and science and technology in 2018 as well as for the annual prize of the President of Ukraine for young scientists in 2018, and the question of supporting the nomination of candidates from other organizations for the election for announced vacancies in the NAS of Ukraine in particular. Finally, the results of the work of the Commission on verification of issues of the eligibility of the Student Conference and the legitimacy of student self-government bodies in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute were taken into account. After listening to Chairman of the commission V.Ya. Zhuykov and students’ speeches and having the heated discussion on aforementioned issues, the Academic Council decided to regard the conclusions of the commission concerning the unlawfulness of the student conferences on all levels, conducted without compliance with the legislation requirements, and the illegitimacy of elected bodies of student self-government. It was also decided to create a temporary commission of the Academic Council from the students-members of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to facilitate the organization of events for a direct secret election of delegates at the University Workforce Conference and for elections to representative and executive bodies of student self-government. With a view of students' legal rights implementation, the Academic Council also decided to continue the determination of the financial basis for student self-government activities in the amount of not less than 0.5% of the university revenues received from its main activities.
