On September 29, 2017, in the hall of the Administrative Council of the a celebration took place on the occasion of the opening of the Master's program “Conflict Resolution and Mediation”.

The Master's program was created by the SLF team in cooperation with the Ministry of Temporary Occupation Territories and foreign partners. It is extremely important for modern Ukrainian society, as it involves the training of specialists, whose activities should be directed to the non-military solution of conflicts. Understanding the social significance of this kind of program, the university responded promptly to the proposal of the Ministry and in the spring Methodological and Scientists Council unanimously approved and supported the creation of a new specialization in the training of specialists in the specialty “Sociology”.
Despite the fact that there was no time to fully inform the public about the new program, thanks to the joint information efforts of the Ministry, the British Embassies and the Swiss Confederation, as well as the University's services, the demand among the entrants to it was very high. Thanks to this, the university not only fully complied with the state-commissioning plan, but also has students who are studying on a contract basis.
The syllabus developed by the University's specialists in conjunction with foreign partners included various blocks of disciplines starting from sociological and legal to managerial ones. At the celebration, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology and Law Anatoliy Melnychenko has presented a model of training specialists in conflict resolution and gave more datails about the set of future competences that will be held by the graduates of the aforementioned Master's program.
