Modern information and communication technologies provide scientists around the world with enormous opportunities for publication of scientific research results, exchange of information, development of international scientific contacts. At the same time, the rapid development of scientific digital content has complicated research and identification of authors of exact scientific researches. First, dozens of scientists from different countries may have similar surnames. Secondly, after translation to another language the same surname can transliterate differently in different journals. At the same time, the development of international computer bases requires a clear identification of authors. To solve these problems, digital identifiers of authors are created which allow to combine the author with the results of his research.
On June 8, 2017 in the Scientific and Technical Library after H. I. Denysenko hosted a seminar "To find the author, or Modern tools for identifying scientists in the digital scientific environment", which was attended by scientists and lecturers of our university.
The seminar was held by Yevheniya Kulik, Ph.D., Head of Department of Education and Research Support. She considered the following questions:
- the possibility of designating the author's "ME" on the map of the scientific digital landscape;
- details to be considered while updating the researcher profile in Google Scholar;
- profile in Scopus: creation of author's ID, combining his/her publications;
- create and completion of researcher profile in the ResearcherID (Clarivate Analytics) registry;
- peculiarities of setting up an account in the international register of scientists ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributive ID).
After completing the report, Yevheniya Kulik answered the questions and helped those wishing to create and update existing accounts in the registers of the identification of scientists.
At present, in the hall number 9 of the STL (4th floor) staff offer for all researchers an information and advisory support during registration in author identification systems.
