Forum of rectors of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine and Poland started its work in National technical university of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute” on 6 April.
Almost ninety heads of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine and over eighty heads from Poland during all days will be considering condition, possibilities and perspectives of cooperation development as well as common problems of Ukrainian and Polish higher technical education and ways of their overcoming.
The work of Forum started before its official opening with putting flowers to the Wojciech Swietoslawski monument – KPI graduate of 1906, famous Polish scientists and public person. It was followed by special common meeting of the Conference of rectors of technical universities of Republic of Poland and Association of rectos of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine “Breakthrough projects of international cooperation of technical universities of Ukraine and Republic of Poland in science, technologies and innovation: university satellite, aerospace technology, cyber security and physical nuclear security, pure water, renewable energy”. Head of Board of Association of rectors of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine, rector of National technical university of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute” Mykhailo Zgurovsky and head of Conference of rectors of technical university of Republic of Poland, rector of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow city Tadeusz Slomka presided over the meeting. They watched a presentation of the most interesting projects that are perspective for cooperation development and are being realized in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute: “Space program of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute”, “Modern aviation and automobile industry”, Tucana Engineering Warsaw – cooperation between Ukraine and Poland”, «Cyber security”, «National educational platform in the field of nuclear security” , «Cooperation of Ukraine and Poland in “Pure water” problematic, “Renewable energy and projects according to “Polish support” program etc.
First deputy of Head of Verhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iryna Herashchenko, Minister of education and science of Ukraine, Liliia Hrynevych, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Poland to Ukraine Yan Peklo, first head deputy of Committee of Verhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding education and science Oleksandr Spivakovskyi, head of subcommittee regarding regional and trans-border cooperation between Ukraine and EU countries of Verhovna Rada Committee regarding European integration, member of Ukrainian part of Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and Republic of Poland, people’s deputy of Ukraine Oksana Yurinets, head of National Board of science and education of Republic of Poland Yezhy Woznyzkyj, president of Conference of rector of academic schools of Republic of Poland, rector of Warsow polytechnics Yan Schmidt and others took part in Forum opening ceremony.
«You are making prominent people, those who will become driving force of innovative economy of the country. And that fact that we are uniting that Forum shows acts as additional evidence of how Poland needs Ukraine and Ukraine need Poland – stressed Liliia Hrynevych welcoming participants and guests of Forum. We completely realize who is a partner for Ukraine, not even a partner but a real friend. Thus, it is extremely important for us to build tight cooperation between different professional communities of our countries that will be productive and effective for both parties. I think cooperation between our technical higher educational establishments in all fields is one more firm bridge between us”.
After official part there was a plenary meeting where Forum participants discussed a series of general issues related to condition, experience and cooperation development perspectives of Polish and Ukrainian technical higher educational establishments.
Further Forum meetings will be hold on 7 April as subject round tables devoted to activity lines important for universities of both countries: “International and external economic activity as factor of internationalization of modern European leading technical university”; “European accreditation of engineering education. European certification of engineers. Rating of educational programs”; Opportunities of EU ERASMUS+ program for universities of Ukraine and Republic of Poland – great start for development of long-term cooperation”; “Double degrre diploma – cooperation of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine and Poland in the field of education”; “European network of start-up schools and creation of common innovative environment”; Information Day of EU research program «Horizon 2020 INFO DAY» Energy & Enviroment; “Juridical science at crossroads with higher technical education”.
