The first person I met when I came to the KPI library was Vasyl Herasymovych, still the deputy director at the time. He took me to work. It turned out that we were also countrymen. This meeting designed my fate.
Many people from the library staff are grateful to Vasyl Herasymovych. I am not an exception. I am sincerely grateful for the professional advice, support in difficult times, the ability to be wise, patient, and to rejoice at the success of others.

When I graduated from the institute, the curator of our group offered me a vacancy in the library of KPI. I, of course, agreed. And so, before the graduation, I stand before the distribution committee, representatives from many Kyiv libraries are present, and one of these representatives offers me a job. Vasyl Herasymovych exclaims: "No, no, no. She has already been proposed to." " The marriage" was successful - I have been working in the library for more than thirty years.

We all know Vasyl Herasymovych as a great connoisseur of poetry. Poetry accompanies him throughout his life. He knows many poems by heart and recites them perfectly.
His festive greetings have always been poetic. During the Crimean library conferences, he always found several minutes to listen to his favorite poems on the seashore, which he always had with him on a voice recorder or an audio player.

Vasyl Herasymovych was hiring me. For me, he is not only a leader but also a very sensitive, kind person. He knew about the problems of each of us and always responded when we needed help or advice. He is very modest, easy to communicate, you could go to the director's office at any time.

Vasyl Herasymovych always accepted back those who were looking for a better fate elsewhere. People returned and began to work with greater impact. This approach to work with the staff went to the library: we have no staff turnover.

When I graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts I did not imagine where I will work shortly. Vasyl Herasymovych came to us and invited us to the KPI library, which just opened in a new building. He was so enthusiastic about the great library that his team worked on, which made it simply impossible to turn down the offer. Many years have passed, but I still remember this meeting that decided my fate well.

My first acquaintance with the director was when I was a student intern. I liked the library at that time, I just did not know if they would take me to work. And when it came to settling down, Vasyl Herasymovych immediately asked if I could work on a computer: if "yes", then you go to work in the automation department, you will master Aleph. And a month later, he sent me to the Springer Publishing Electronic Journal conference. He made great efforts to make the library automated and up-to-date.

A pleasant memory for me was the first acquaintance with Vasyl Herasymovych - my coming to work for the KPI library. Of course, I was very excited, but when I went to the director's office, his affection and his easy smile decided everything. The interview was easy, somehow I even felt "at home." My doubts whether I should have stayed here to work or continued to search had completely withered. I worked for a long time in the library of the Research Institute in Myronivka, a place where he came from. From local people I knew that they remembered V.H.Dryhailo and his family warmly.
