June 11th the university visited the newly elected president of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, Mikhail Brodsky. At a meeting with the rector Michael Zgurovsky they discussed problems and prospects of student basketball.
Visit this was not accidental, because Michael Zgurovsky heads Allukrainian basketball student association and is a member of Basketball Federation of Ukraine.
Participants of the meeting noted the high professional level of student basketball teams. Given this Michael Brodsky proposed to organize the next championship final in Kiev Sports Palace. In order to encourage our basketball players to further improve their training and strive to reach the European level of the game, FB President promised to send five KPI students as spectators at the European Basketball Championship, to be held from 5 to 20 September.
With regard to the main issues of the meeting, the participants outlined the following areas of Federation work:
- Motivation of beginner: creating levers of encourage of young basketball players, in particular the introduction of "draft", which provides an annual attraction of new basketball - entrants, alumni, high school students;
- Women's basketball: support and promotion;
- Students and society: drawing the attention of society to the competition, the invitation to the game of public figures, representatives of Ukrainian sports, cultural, political elite;
- Preparation Cheerleaders (that support groups of competitors): Cheerleaders training, the competition between them;
- Sponsorship: cooperation with sponsors for getting from them sports uniform , equipment, material support in exchange for use of their symbols in the design of basketball halls;
- Continuity of games: competitions throughout the year;
- Statistics: keeping statistics of games and achievements of each player;
- Coaching staff: regular improvement of professional skill of coaching staff.
