April 23 was the opening of the second phase of the art space "Tower KPI": to the upper rooms were added basement. In his welcoming speech Rector of NTUU "KPI" Mikhail Zgurovsky noted that student creativity will continue to flourish in this corner.
An initiative group has been working on the project of transforming the abandoned tower into an art space since 2013. Its current head, Dmitry Stolyarenko, a graduate student of the Philosophy Department, says: "When creating the art space, we proceed from the concept of all-round development of students. Among university youth there are many creative individuals who will be able to exhibit their works (photography, painting) here. And young researchers can find here a place to realize their startups (e.g. programmers). Also in the premises of the art space can be held master classes, lectures, meetings with famous people, etc. ".
Last year, exhibitions of photography, painting and other events took place regularly in the "KPI Tower". The university administration helps enthusiasts organizationally and materially - repair of premises, furniture, light, sound, etc. Ahead - repair work in the courtyard, where there was a parking lot, and now they will equip a place for students to rest.
