On November, 20-22 at the Department of Applied Mechanics and Aerohydromechanotronics of Institute of Mechanical Engineering a traditional Ukrainian Olympiad "Mechanotronics in Engineering” was held. Although it seems the word “traditional” is not quite appropriate , because the "sense" of the competition is in its nonstandart format.
Today there are not so many olympiads, and NTUU “KPI” can be proud of starting one of them. Competition started in spring, 2009. Staff of the Department of Applied Fluid Mechanics and Mechanotronics together with the Ukrainian representative office of "FESTO" applied with the corresponding request to the MES of Ukraine. And in November, a team of Kyiv and Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute , and other technical universities in Kyiv, Sumy, Alchevsk, Donetsk and Sevastopol (of 8 teams ) started the first competition in mechanotronics.
The Olympiad is constantly gaining popularity. From year to year the geography of participants expands, increases the complexity of the tasks and skills of those who take part in it. This year, the team joined Lutsk and Khmelnytsky. In all 17 teams come to fight for the victory from all over Ukraine.
The point of competition is to solve problems related to actual production. The efficiency of the proposed by the participants solutions is tested on layout boards. Rules are simple: after the draw commands get the case, offer a scheme, the algorithm of the automation of the given process, choosing the equipment and establish a system for the stand.
During the Olympiad every team in turn are passing four stages: pneumatics, electropneumatics, the programming of algorithm of diagnosis of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on controller.
Each year, the main intrigue of the competition is - team performance, this time the "KPI" team has shown the best results - the1st place (Sergiy Symonenko, Artem Sirota, Anatoly Kuznetsov, the head – O.S. Hanpantsurova ) DNTU - the 2nd place ( Eugene Lipinski , Yuri Schenk , Irina Chihirina , the head – T.A. Ustymenko ) NUFT - the 3rd place (Yuri Babich , Denis Prygodiy, Oleg Taran, the head - M.Yakymchuk ). In individual competitions: 1st place - Denis Prygodiy, 2nd place - Max Grom, NAU named after N.E. Zhukovsky "HAI ", 3rd place - Artem Sirota, NTUU "KPI" .
I asked the Contest winners to share their impressions.
- It is difficult to show a high level of competition in the game ,what's your secret of success ?
Denis Pryhodiy: " The most difficult in this type of competition is a measure of time in preparing the plan while you need to use the less elements as possible, efficiently collect system to calculate all the possible factors that may affect its operation. Advantage of this event is that in the process of drafting is possibility to adjust the scheme for most of its reliability . I think our result achieved due to good preparation and efforts made by our leader .
Max Grom: " I think it is not difficult. to show high level. As it was given the opportunity to practice on the layout stands up to the competition , it made it possible to understand how differs theory from practice. Means that even without equipment at home u can prepare proprly . The organization has helped a lot : it was very rich and friendly . "
-This year u are finishing your study. What are your plans for professional future ?
Denis Pryhodiy : " I see my future work in the company associated with the packaging and in the future might be the research activities. Our team is to prepare young change that next year will show the highest results in the Contest ."
Max Grom : " Plans for the future? Personally I plan to graduate from two Universities in June - NAU and MSNU , then to join the postgraduate course of NAU and I might train the team for the Olympics in mehanotroniky in 2014".
Another feature of the event is a friendly atmosphere . Competitions are truly " student ", because most of the work for the organization , training equipment , accommodation in hostels for teams , improvement of training on stands perfom students of KPI . Experience shows that such format of communication with peers , not with teachers, makes the everyday life of the members more comfortable.
In my opinion the most important achievement was the successful start in professional life and acquaintance with future colleagues who during these few days had become friends.
