From 2 to 5 December, 2013 Student Social Service "KPI" held a traditional set of events - marathon "Student Games" to promote healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of the risk of HIV / AIDS, hepatitis B and C. 19 teams (5 people in each one) from different faculties / institutes of KPI were registered to participate in marathon. There are 185 thousand people HIV-positive in Ukraine. It is about 1.25% of the adult population.
The most vulnerable are young people from 18 to 30. Therefore it is necessary to inform young people about the possible dangers, the risks, how to prevent HIV / AIDS and the importance of testing on this kind of diseases in the body.
On December, 2 during the day in academic buildings and student dormitories of “KPI” were hosting an event "Anti-AIDS" during which KPI students received handout material such as information leaflets and condoms. On the same day in the building of student social service of “KPI” held anonymous and free testing for students on HIV / AIDS, hepatitis B and C. More then 130 KPI students were tested.
On December, 3 the students social service presented an interactive game-exhibition “Route of Safety”, where 4 instructive stations with the tasks for marathon participants were shown: “HIV/AIDS: questions and answers”, “Next to you”, “Protection from HIV, sexually transmitted infections(STI) and means of contraception” and “Transmission of HIV”.
On December, 4 students authorial social and preventive events at the faculties/institutes and hostels of NTUU “KPI” were held, aimed to increase awareness of the students on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, STI and negative phenomena among young people, which are caused by unsafe sexual behavior and maintaining an unhealthy lifestyle.
At last, on December, 5 a final concert with rewarding of participants and the winners of the “Students Game - 2013” marathon took place.
The winners of this year marathon are:
- I place – “Imunitet” team of ISZZI students Ivan Horniychuk, Olha Shklyaruk, Evhen Grigorchuk, Anna Halhanets and Oksana Grishina;
- II place – “Krok vpered” team of FEL students Vladyslav Scherbin, Julia Sychova, Kirill Fomenko, Olexiy Ivanov and Anastasia Melnik.
- III place – “Forever alone” team of IFF students Evhen Holovko, Myhajlo Vterkovsky, Darja Bezzub and Ilona Pylavska.
