Center of Science and Methodology "System analysis and statistics” of National Technical University of Ukraine “Kiev Polytechnic Institute” (SMC “AIST” Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) is an innovative structural department of the University. Its activities are built according to a synergetic paradigm of education.

The center is created in July of 2006. Director of SMC “AIST” Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Bakhtina Galyna Petrovna is an Associate Professor, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics.

As an entity performing information and analytical functions the center provides vital input to decision-making process for high level management of the University under conditions of integration into a sole European Educational Unity and formation of knowledge-based society.
Long-term effects of education depend on political, economics, social, demographic, psychological, organizational, geographic, material and technical factors. All these aspects are taken into account in the process of structuring strategic policy for Graduate School, designing strategy of “survival” for a university (or any educational institution) under conditions of high level competition and measurement of various research indicators and instruments of their assessment.

The Need for development of innovative approaches for management in education on all hierarchical levels and implementation of innovative technologies directly to the process of teaching and coaching in

Graduate School is caused by the following factors:

  • Demographic situation which is characterized by approaching “demographic pit” potentially leading too termination of existence for major part of colleges and graduate schools;
  • University entrants market and constantly evolving modern job market demanding specialists capable of functioning under conditions of intense economics upheaval;
  • Perspectives of international job market creation and increasing mobility of the population;
  • Future competition from European graduate schools;
  • Decreasing demand for a wide range of professions and specialities;
  • Tendency towards decreased governmental financing of Education System and changing needs of modern society for knowledge and information;
  • Emerging of new educational paradigms and need for creation of adoptive-adopting professional system of education.

Current spectrum of the center activities include the following:

  • System approach and utilization of statistical information for creation of methodologies and innovative technologies for efficient quality management in education;
  • Structuring and creation of information support for official statistical database of the University;
  • Analysis of information database for prime and derived statistical data of the University and providing recommendations on preventive measures for supervision acoording to the requirement of modern management;
  • Analysis of regional, state and international statistics with the objective of deriving trends of high education development and factors influencing the process;
  • Analysis of general state of NTUU operations to solve the problem of adaptation under modern conditions in the light of Sustainable Development concept;
  • Devising interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research and organizing science research and practical activities for students working on complex innovative and multi-disciplinary projects.
