Nataliia Valeriivna Seminska – Director of the Educational and Innovation Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Hydro-Aeromechanics and Mechatronics at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Mechanics and Machine Building of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.”
Biographical Information:
N.V. Seminska received her higher education at the Donbas Mining and Metallurgical Institute, earning a Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics in 2002.
Second higher education degree: Manager–Economist, 2002.
From 2006 to 2019, she held the positions of engineer, assistant, senior lecturer, and associate professor in the Department of Applied Hydro-Aeromechanics and Mechatronics.
Throughout her work at the department, she actively participated in scientific activities and contributed to engaging young people in the development of the department’s scientific school. For 10 years, she organized and conducted international scientific and technical conferences, including “Hydroaeromechanics in Engineering Practice” and “Advanced Engineering and Technologies”, and also initiated the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Youth Innovations in Mechanical Engineering”.
From 2019 to 2023, she served as Vice Rector for Academic and Educational Affairs. Among the results:
- Establishing clear guidelines for the department’s staff, which facilitated the implementation of projects focused on student development in the areas of educational and upbringing, career guidance, scholarships, social-psychological and organizational-educational work, as well as internationalization.
- Development and implementation of a strategy for the comprehensive development of students and the realization of their potential, taking into account the current demands of the labor market.
- Implementation of a three-tier system for engaging students in activities to identify their interests and potential, as well as to develop project and grant activities.
- Creation of a mentoring system for students to facilitate their adaptation to the university environment.
- Development of a departmental work strategy, which increased productivity by 60% and student trust by 80%.
- Established communication and feedback channels (for 20,000 students) through effective social media marketing (media reach of 58,000)
- Implemented teamwork, which enabled the effective development of project activities both within the university and beyond (up to 55 projects per year)
- A career guidance platform was built, which contributed to the largest first-year enrollment in Ukraine.
- An orientation platform was built for 5,000 first-year students, consisting of 20 events.
- An algorithm for engaging partners was implemented, resulting in 405 agreements.
- A three-tier system for student engagement in interest-based activities was established, which helped unlock students’ potential and increase the level of project and grant activities. (1,000 active students)
- The university’s brand book was introduced.
In 2023, she headed the Educational and Innovation Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation, where she oversees training, research, and scientific and technical developments in the field of prosthetics and rehabilitation for war victims.
Research Work
In 2008, N.V. Seminska defended her Ph.D. dissertation in the specialty “Mechanics of Fluids, Gases, and Plasma” on the topic “Improvement of Waterjet Technologies Taking into Account the Unsteady Nature of High-Pressure Jets.”
In 2014, she was awarded the title of Associate Professor at the Department of PGM, MMI.
She actively participated in the implementation of 7 research and development projects.

Teaching activities
From 2006 to the present, N.V. Seminska has been teaching at the Department of Applied Hydroaeromechanics and Mechatronics, Institute of Mechanics and Machine Building, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

Social Responsibility Projects
N.V. Seminska is actively working to attract partners for the university’s development, including at the international level, and devotes significant attention to the areas of inclusion and accessibility (Inclusive Lecture Series).
- Together with Boeing Ukraine, she launched the All-Ukrainian Engineering Competition “Build Your Dream”, in which over 300 schoolchildren from across the country have already participated.
- Since 2024, she has led the project “The Future of Prosthetics in Ukraine: Master’s Program for Veterans”.
- Thanks to her efforts, in 2025 the Innovation Complex was renovated and equipped, which includes the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the Additive Technologies Science Park and the educational and research laboratory for prosthetics, medical rehabilitation, and occupational therapy.
State and Institutional Awards
N.V. Seminska has received the following honors and awards:
- Department of Education and Science of the Executive Body of the Kyiv City Council for her significant personal contribution to the organization and conduct of the competition-defense, her dedicated work with creatively gifted students, and her fruitful cooperation with the Kyiv Small Academy of Sciences for Schoolchildren. Order No. 204-k, dated June 1, 2020.
- Medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “People’s Honor to Ukrainian Scientists 1918–2018” (No. 270, 2019).
- Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine for her contribution to the development of the Olympic movement, January 15, 2024.
- Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for her many years of dedicated work, significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists, and fruitful scientific and pedagogical activities, 2019.
- Awarded a Letter of Appreciation from the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Kyiv Regional State Administration for conscientious work, dedication, significant personal contribution, and support of student volunteer initiatives, 2022.
