The annual session of the university faculty took place on 29 August. This year, for security reasons, it was held in a mixed format: deans of faculties and directors of institutes, heads of departments, heads of other departments, some teachers and researchers filled the hall of the Academic Council of the University, other employees were able to watch the meeting in real time or recorded on university networks. The session was attended by the guest of honour and former KPI graduate, and now the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko.

The session was held on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Among them are many employees, graduates and students of KPI, so the session began with a minute of silence. The participants of the meeting also honoured the memory of their colleagues who passed away over the past year.
The Rector of the University Anatoliy Melnychenko made a thorough report at the session.
After him, Oleksandr Korniienko addressed the polytechnics with a welcoming speech. ‘Today, it is impossible to win a war, especially with such a strong and insidious enemy as the Russian Federation, without science, without high-tech industries and, of course, without what is now often called military-tech, and earlier - the traditional term of the military-industrial complex. Over the last two years, we have heard a lot about the work in this area, and you have probably heard this encouraging news,’ he said. ’Of course, all this would not have been possible without your contribution, without the important activities of our community of Kyiv Polytechnics... He also spoke about other important areas for our country, in particular, that the Ukrainian economy after the Victory should be restored in a new format, so that it becomes better and more modern than it was before the war, so that Ukraine turns from an agrarian and raw material country into a high-tech state that will supply high-quality products of various directions, including energy security products, to world markets. That is, products that cannot be produced without the participation of science and higher education, and therefore without Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Ukraine's accession to the European Union is also impossible without it. Therefore, the post-war development of our country depends on the level of education and awareness of our citizens, and this imposes a special responsibility on the university and the entire Ukrainian education system. He also promised to help KPI together with other MPs who graduated from KPI (and, according to him, there are about 10 of them in the Verkhovna Rada), if possible, although he frankly warned that the financial situation in the country is very difficult and is unlikely to be alleviated, but at the same time, the situation with extra-budgetary funding from various sources, including international ones, is improving. He concluded his speech by presenting honorary diplomas and awards of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to a number of university teachers and researchers.
Finally, the authors of textbooks, manuals and monographs, which were awarded at the competition for the best publications of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and published last academic year, received three degrees of university diplomas.
