Dear veterans and current defenders of the Motherland! Dear Kyiv Polytechnic students! In these May days we honor the older generation who had to go through the deadly fire of the Second World War.
The Second World War was the most terrible war, including in Ukrainian history. We remember that more than 10 million Ukrainians laid down their lives in this terrible tragedy to make it possible for us to live freely.
163 students, faculty and staff of KPI paid with their lives for the May Victory of 1945.
Now, in the pursuit of independence and freedom, the people of Ukraine are once again forced to defend their choice and the right to existence of their own sovereign state with arms in their hands. There are thousands of Kyiv Polytechnic students in the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, voluntary formations, and the volunteer community.
Unfortunately, our team has suffered losses.
In this war, 33 polytechnicians died heroically, including six students; twenty-six graduates of previous years; and one university employee. At the beginning of the invasion, two polytechnics went missing: one student and one graduate.
Eternal and bright memory to the fallen.
From the first hours of the Russian aggression, KPI faculty, staff, and students stood up to defend their homeland.
During the war, the university did not stop its work. The educational process continues, conditions are created for the admission of new students, and the main activities are provided.
Polytechnics provide comprehensive assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Kyiv Polytechnic Charitable Foundation for Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was established. Teachers, researchers, staff, and students participate in numerous programs to develop the latest weapons and military equipment, as well as means of protecting soldiers on the battlefield.
Our resistance, our faith in the Victory will not be broken, because the truth and our native land are behind us!
History shows that our people are invincible!
Glory to the defenders of Ukraine of all times!
Glory to Ukraine!
With gratitude and respect
Michael Zgurovsky, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute
