For the second year G.I. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library implements the Library Strategy for 2021-2025, which is a guide for its employees to all their dreams, aspirations and values. Of course, all of them are aimed at meeting the needs of clients, for whom the team works and develops themselves as well as the library with all its resources, services and capabilities. One of NTB's main clients is a lecturer. That is why we offer to talk a little about the tandem of a librarian and a lecturer - what we offer, how we see the cooperation, how we can make their life within the university easier.
The librarian is the lecturer's partner
We clearly state in our Mission who we want to be: "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Library is an intelligent, communicative, innovative open platform; a reliable partner of the university and professional community in the development of educational and scientific environment." And these words are best conveyed by our daily steps. We really strive to be a partner for each lecturer, to provide them with comprehensive professional support for the effective organization of educational, teaching, research activities, to save their time and effort. Given your needs, we are constantly improving our services and resources, which you can use in a convenient way: both live and remotely.
What kind of support do we offer to lecturers?
Information resources
First of all, you have access to all information resources of the library 24/7: e-catalog, ELAKPI, digital library, as well as databases of scientific and educational materials. These resources are open to you from anywhere in the world where there is internet. We are always ready to consult you on how to use them, where and what information is contained.
Library paper resources. You can use publications from the library's collection - this is more than 440,000 titles of printed publications! To do this, you need to order publications in the e-catalog and pick them up at the library or use the "Book by mail" option, and we will send the books by mail to a convenient place for you.
Paper resources from other libraries. If there is no edition in our collection, we will try to deliver it to you from another library in Ukraine.
Electronic copies of documents. Another convenience for you is the opportunity to order from us a digital copy of a book / article from the library, other libraries, prepaid licensed databases - we will send you everything by email.
Subject-specific search for resources
If you are looking for information sources on the subject of your educational discipline or research, we will easily prepare for you a list of such sources that are available in the library fund, other libraries, ELAKPI, open and commercial databases. We also provide lists of information resources available in the library for accreditation / licensing of departments, faculties.
Course materials
Organization of access to recommended sources. Together with lecturers, we are developing an e-catalog service "Course materials", which displays collections of educational materials that are recommended to students to do a particular course. If you have not yet used this service, we will be happy to help you create a collection of information sources, which you recommend to students of your course, in the e-catalog.
Informing about new literature. In order to update the sources for the training courses, we can inform you about new educational and scientific literature in particular fields of knowledge published in Ukraine and abroad, and about the relevant materials in open sources.
Acquisition / subscription of literature in educational disciplines. Make an order to purchase the materials or databases you need in the teaching process, and we will make every effort to ensure that these publications appear in the library.
Educational activities and consultations
To organize effective teaching and research, we organize many educational / training events on various topics: from information resources, scientometrics, citation styles to the placement of materials in ELAKPI, academic integrity. We invite you to take part in these events, as well as to initiate their holding. Also, we are always ready to provide you with individual consultation on a particular topic.
Works of teachers
If you have just prepared a monograph, textbook, article, etc., you can contact us and we will determine the index of the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) for your work. We will help to publish your educational and scientific materials in ELAKPI. We also offer technical testing of textbooks and monographs for plagiarism.
