Ania Morozova, an Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute graduate, and a hitchhiker, has traveled around the world and visited 70 countries. Besides, she is also a journalist and a TEDx speaker. She gave lectures and pieces of training motivating Ukrainians to travel. The “KP” newspaper told about Anna's trips and her meetings with students (https://kpi.ua/en/1408-1, https://kpi.ua/en/1424-1). In the spring, her first book was published, a copy of which the author presented to the editors.
“The Fourth Assistant of St. Christopher” is an adventurous novel about the adventures of a Ukrainian sailor and little-known historical events. The action takes place in 1992. A Ukrainian ship gets detained in the Argentine port for debts. One of the team members escapes and steals all the money and passports of sailors. The situation is critical: hunger and indifference of the authorities. Then the captain's fourth assistant, Sasha Rozov, dares to go crazy: he wants to return to Odessa - from Buenos Aires to Alaska by hitchhiking and across the Bering Strait on foot.
“The beginning of the book is a historical fact,” says the author. “Then goes my travel experience, told on behalf of the protagonist. There are many personal experiences, situations: about the endless road and the feeling that, on the one hand, you are completely alone and lost in this world. On the other hand, it is about the magic of the road. On your way, everything and everyone is beginning to help you. The book shows that there are much more good and open people. If something wrong or bad happens, it is often out of your stupidity, and that history (real events) often overshadows the most violent fantasy. The book, for example, contains an excerpt about the Peruvian settlement of 20,000 Jungai, which has been demolished by the earthquake. And 350 people survived, mostly children. Children survived because parents just took the children to the show of a traveling circus on the next hill.”
Now Ania raises her son, travels a lot, and promotes traveling. And she will never forget Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. She remembers the University with gratitude and nostalgia because she feels the support of friends. It stimulates and inspires, and even one of the characters in the novel is an Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute scientist.
