On January 29, 2021, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute took place. The meeting was as follows: a face-to-face secret vote at the meeting room of the Academic Council and agenda items discussions online.
The meeting began with congratulations. Chairman of the Academic Council Mykhailo Ilchenko congratulated the jubilees: Head of the Faculty of Heat and Power Engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gennady Varlamov, Head of the Institute of Printing and Publishing, Doctor of Sciences in Social Communications, Professor Olga Trishchuk, Head of the Faculty of Heat and Power Engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valeriy Tuz.
The first agenda item of the Academic Council was providing recommendations to the University staff for the vacancies of members of the NAS of Ukraine. Chair of the Commission on Scientific and Innovative Activities Olga Linyucheva reported on the issue. She submitted the candidates for a Full Member of the NAS of Ukraine: Mykola Bobyr, Petro Loboda, Serhiy Sydorenko. The candidates for a corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine included: Olena Bezvesilna, Anatolii Doroshenko, Fedir Dubrovka, Oleksii Novikov, A.A. Pavlov, Leonid Uryvskyi, Serhii Fomichov, Julia Yamnenko.
Then, Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky reported on the adaptation of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. The report concerned expanding and updating the Electronic Campus system; development of the distance learning platform “Sikorsky”; development of networks of the Information and Dialogue Platform on the Internet; setting up the learning process online; increase in budgeting for science at the University at the fund expense.
Besides, the meeting members discussed our scientists participate in the competitions of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. They also paid attention to the IX festival “Sikorsky Challenge” held in a mixed-mode. They also wished to turn to qualitatively new level of business socializing with internal and external partners of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The Academic Council drew attention to the University’s all infrastructure facilities and solving social issues of members of the University staff and employees.
Vice-Rector for International Relations Serhiy Sydorenko reported on the results of the University's international activities in 2020. He also spoke about tasks and prospects for 2021. The Vice-rector stressed the importance of the University internationalization. So, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute intends to strengthening the international organization of research and implementation of educational technologies. Training specialists competitive in global markets of education, science, and innovation is also up-to-date. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute should become a modern technical research university with a reputation as a highly rated university. As a result, the University can provide growth of economic indicators in the couttnry. The main tasks of the Department of International Relations include adapting the best practices of the most successful universities and implementing them in all areas of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Among the assignments are updating forms of work with all departments and forming a new generation of educators, scientists, and managers. The University needs educators and managers with European thinking, proficient in English and European culture for effective entry of the University into the European scientific space.
Finally, the meeting considered the current affairs, including recommendations for rewarding university staff, publishing monographs and printing periodicals, along with an annual plan for the professional development of research and teaching staff of the University.
