On August 30, 2018, a session of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” devoted to the 120th anniversary of the foundation of our university was held at the Center for Culture and Arts.
At the beginning of the meeting, the first pro-rector and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yuriy Yakimenko warmly greeted the audience and congratulated everyone on the 27th anniversary of independence of Ukraine and wished creative success in the new 2018/19 year. The participants of the meeting had a minute of silence to honor the memory of teachers and staff of the university who passed away during the last academic year.
Mykhailo Zgurovsky, rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, gave a presentation and outlined the path of the formation of our university, the stages of its evolution – from the foundation to the present time. At the end of the report, the rector congratulated the audience on the anniversary of our university and the beginning of the new academic year. He wished everyone good health, inspiration, success in work, and realization of plans and expectations. (See pages 2-5 for the full speech.)
Then P.M. Talanchuk gave short speech before the meeting. He was the first rector of our university (1987-1992), who was appointed by the staff.
After that, Mykhailo Zgurovsky handed diplomas to the winners of the contest for the best textbook, tutorial and monograph.
Then the participants of the meeting viewed a documentary film devoted to the 120th anniversary of our university.
The session ended with a concert given by the amateur talent groups of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
