Let me introduce to you Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine scholarship holder Maria Voloshchuk, a VІ year of studies student of Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Department of Automation of Chemical Productions. Nowadays, she is working on her master's thesis on the topic "Automation of the process of carbon electrodes production", which is directed by Doctor of Engineering, Professor A. I. Zhuchenko.
Her research is of great interest at this time, since the production of carbon products is extremely resource and energy efficient. Therefore, it is very important to increase its effectiveness, especially in conditions of constant increase of energy sources cost. One of the determinant technological processes in carbon products manufacturing is the graphitization process. It accounts for almost 80% of the total energy consumption of manufacturing, which corresponds to 8-10 MWh per 1 ton of products. These figures show that the task of increasing the efficiency of graphite carbon products manufacturing process can be effectively solved only by creating a modern system of optimal control on the basis of current state of the technological process analysis.
"The main motto in my life," the student says, "is my own interpretation of Richard Bach's famous statement: “You're never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Therefore, there is nothing unattainable, you only have to have a dream.” She continues: “A person should be surrounded by a comfortable environment in order to self-actualize. KPI is a big friendly family, where I can always count on support and help, which was proven to me much more than once. So, is it possible not to succeed in the KPI? Definitely not, that’s why I am also trying to walk up the “scientific ladder” every day.
During the years of studying in KPI I was taught not to forget that in any situation the main thing to do is to remain a Human. KPI gave me valuable knowledge which opens the door to the future as well as participation in student youth projects helps to improve creative skills, which is also very important for further self-growth. "
Apart from studying, the student is interested in professional scientific news and discoveries, studies foreign languages, goes in for sports.
"If I turn back and recall the whole path completed within the walls of native university," she says, "I won’t hesitate for a moment to say that it was the right choice to enter Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, this exact faculty and this exact department. I am grateful to my scientific supervisor Anatolii Ivanovych Zhuchenko and all the department staff for support and scientific assistance, for the invaluable knowledge I have gained, and my scientific potential revelation. Thank you, my dear Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute!
