Not far from Igor Sikorsky monument, near the helicopter, a new seeding of the rare Ginkgo was planted on June 2. It is a gift from a social organization “Osviteks”. At the official ceremony, the tree was planted by representative of the organization Marianne Prysyazhnyk, general director of the Science Park “Kyiv Polytechnics” Yaroslav Kologryvov, manager of the Politeco Science City project Sergiy Grin, and head of the aviation cosmonautics department of I. Sikorsky in State polytechnic museum NTUU “KPI” Olexandr Boltenko.
This is the second ginkgo on the university territory. The first one is more than hundred years. It is rising near the side entrance to the Centre of culture and arts. There is a theory that at the beginning of the last century Igor Sikorsky planted it, when he studied in KPI. That is why the place near the monument to the prominent student of KPI, where the new ginkgo will grow, is not a coincidence. The tree is to be a symbol of the traditions continuity and education, science and innovations relation. By the way, considering the fact that relict ginkgo may live over thousand years, we expect such a long life for current projects of the university.
