Eighth International Scientific Conference "Social Work: Theory, History, Innovation" was held on 15-16 May 2014 in "KPI". It was organized by the Department of Sociology, FAT, Center for the Study of Social Policy (Corvinus University of Budapest), Tallinn University of Technology, Weston Consulting (Warsaw), Kyiv branch of the Ukrainian Institute of positive cross-cultural psychotherapy and management SPD "INSPIRIS" and others. The organizing committee has selected more than 100 applications for participation in the conference. To submit their report expressed their desire teachers and students as well as practitioners and social workers.
Most participants came from "KPI" University, Shevchenko National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, Academy of Labour, Social Affairs and Tourism; Institute of Human Kiev University named after B. Grinchenko, Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine". Attended the event and students of professional and Kiev Pedagogical College named after A. Makarenka. There were also members of the Kyiv City Center for Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, a charitable organization "Association for Hospice and Palliative Care", Kiev city center of social, professional and vocational rehabilitation of the disabled.

Grinchenko Larissa Ostrolutska. Interesting and innovative were the report of Adam Rihlik (Poland), coordinator of international social projects YMCA Europe and N. Vaynilovych - social worker Kiev city center for social and professional rehabilitation and employment of disabled persons.
During breakout discussions raised important for modern social work topics and contexts - social policy and social work based on societal components of multiculturalism approach to training professionals in social work, values of young people in today transformation, current challenges facing the social workers forming professional terminology in social work.
The next day there were two workshops. "Theatrical improvisation in working with social groups" focused on the practical features of lessons from theatrical improvisation, including Playback-Theater. Participants felt that the game is a cast-Playback Theatre through various exercises of theatrical improvisation and some forms of Playback-Theater. Conducted it art therapist, coach socio-psychological training, actress Kiev Playback-Theater "Deja vu plus", a member of the Eastern Art Therapy Association Natalia Vaynilovych.
Workshop "Self Help in Everyday Life, a method of Positive Psychotherapy in Action" helped participants to touch the world of Positive Psychotherapy and read the self-help tools. Notable examples of different approaches and methods of positive psychotherapy in a variety of everyday life situations helped participants of the event reinforce the received knowledge. The workshop was conducted Catherine Ovcharek practicing psychotherapist, Director of the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of positive cross-cultural psychotherapy and management SPD "INSPIRIS".
