3 July NTUU “KPI” was visited by the vice-chairman of Kyiv City Government Administration (KCGA) Ruslan Kramarenko along with the group of senior workers of KCGA and representatives of educational organization of the capital city.
They had a meeting with the administration of the university and discussed the issues of establishing cooperation in the solution of a number of city problems.
In the meeting participated: the rector of NTUU “KPI” Michael Zgurovski, the director of the Scientific Park “Kyiv Polytechnic” in the matters of intellectual property Jaroslav Kologrivov, the deputies of the pro-rector in scientific work Valeriy Barabasch and Vitalij Kotovski, the head of the Department of Renewable Energy Sources at the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automation Stepan Kudria, the director of the Educational Scientific Center “Energetics of Sustainable Development” at the Energy Saving and Energy Management Institute Artem Kovalchuk and others.
Jaroslav Kologrivov held the presentation of the projects referring to the problems of communal services. He, particularly, talked about the programme of modernization of heat-power engineering, developed by the scientists of the university, requiring adoption of new manufacturing technology, transporting and conservation of heat energy and creation of a single Grid System of management of communal heat-power engineering, making an emphasis on the technical issues of its implementation; about the developments in the sphere of water treatment for the purpose of provision of quality drinking water and about the projects of utilization of solid domestic waste by manufacturing of the utilities, etc.
Artem Kovalchuk made a speech supporting it by an interesting presentation “Intellectual City (Energy Aspects)”. The project concerns the issues of systemic solution of energy problems of population aggregates taking a number of life activity components into consideration. Stepan Kudria, as well, called attention of the floor to the innovative developments offered for the adoption within a regional programme of improvment of power efficiency in Kyiv. His report was supplemented by the rector of NTUU “KPI” Michael Zgurovski, speaking about the working experience of the scientists of the university with The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm on development of the model of an “intelligent city” and its successful adoption in the capital of Sweden and the possibility of transferring of the range of its components to Kyiv grounds.
The idea of creation of the KPI IT-Park, provided with Wi-Fi network and decorated with the monuments to Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, the author of which, Kyiv pupil Mykola Gilko, was also present at the meeting. The participants of the meeting agreed upon the fact that his idea is actually really interesting and if they manage to attract investors may be fast and successfully realized. What’s more, the issue of providing Wi-Fi network around the whole university campus has already been in realization. Moreover, the suggestion of erecting the monument to the academician Viktor Gluschkov – a prominent soviet mathematician and cyberneticist, the founder of the Institute of Cybernetics of NAS of Ukraine and the head of the collective of developers of the first in the world Personal Computer “MIR”, was welcomed by the participants.
During the discussion of the suggestions aimed at the solution of the problems of communal services Ruslan Kramarenko made an emphasis on its economical aspects and issues of its practical implementation in the capital city. At the same time he noted that KPI has a number of projects undoubtedly useful for the city. That is why the participants of the meeting reached a consensus on the resemblance of certain areas of work in the agreement of cooperation between the city and university administrations, the project of which has already been prepared.
