Anatoliy V. Skorokhod (10/09/1930 - 03/01/2011) - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (1985), winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (1982 and 2003), author of more than 300 articles and 23 books, including the three-volume "The theory of random processes," co-authored by I.I.Gihman.
Worldwide recognition were received by scientific works A.V. Skorokhod on the theory of stochastic differential equations, limit theorems for stochastic processes, distributions in infinite-dimensional spaces, statistics, stochastic processes, Markov processes. Mathematicians known topology Skorokhod, integral Skorokhod, space Skorokhod. He made an exceptional contribution to the formation of the Ukrainian school of probability theory, prepared 56 candidates and 17 doctors. Since 1993 and until the last days A.V.Skorohod worked in the US, in the Michigan State University, without breaking scientific ties with the Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine.
