The brightest moments of spring matches for the KPI table tennis team are comprised in the participation in Kyiv Universiade which took place in the sport complex of National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. The winners of the elimination contests from Kyiv and other cities fought for the right to participate in the Student Games in Ukraine, Europe, etc. Besides, our sportsmen won gold medals at the Student Games in Kyiv last year and were preparing for Ukrainian Student Games, which were meant to be held in Lviv Oblast. But the contests failed to take place ... So the long waiting for a new game season and the preparation for upcoming competitions were pretty tense. The Universiade was represented by 19 teams. For three days, boys and girls were competing for prize-winning places, demonstrating their skills. KPI students were represented by two teams: "KPI -1" and "KPI -2". The first team was represented by senior students, also called "veterans" in jest: Yevhen Hzhybovetskyi (MMI, IVth year student), Roman Popov (PBF, IVth year student) and first-year student Oleksandra Skorobahatko (FBT). The second team was represented by Vladyslav Ustenko (IHF), Mykhailo Ponomarenko (FSP) and Yelizaveta Piatyhorets (IEE) and participated in this competition for the first time, so everybody was very worried.
Our sportsmen were quite successful. It is not for obtained medals and places, although "KPI-1" won the third place and "KPI-2" took the sixth place, but for the fact that the students demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship, fighting spirit, friendly support, responsible and conscientious attitude to their work and the prestige of the university. Successful study in KPI requires a lot of time and efforts, so only enthusiasts rush for training and develop student sport.
Therefore, our table tennis team was very pleased to be invited to the XIIth Ukrainian Summer Universiade on table tennis 2015 in Ivano-Frankivsk in advance, even before the final games. So the dreams and aspirations of the team and their coach - master of sports of international class O.M. Chychenova (former multiple time champion of Ukraine and the USSR) - came true. For the first time our team headed for so prestigious and large-scale events. About 20 oblasts participated in the Universiade, and each one had two of the best representatives of their region. According to the Regulations of the competition, each university could complement their team composition with any student of other city or region university. Only six teams-participants have a composition, fully formed by the students of the same educational institution. It is great that our university team was among them.
There are different ways to evaluate the performance of our students at the Ukrainian Universiade. Oleksandra Skorobahatko was the sixth in the individual competition, and this is an undoubted success, because almost all existing team sportswomen of Ukraine competed. The boys have slightly failed to fulfil their performance. But the team was pleasantly distinguished with a professional attitude, unity and solidarity. We wish KPI table tennis team to have success, inspiration, health and victories.
