From November 20 to December 1, 2025, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in collaboration with HackenProof, held the “First National CTF” online competition. Amid the whirlwind of events, anxieties, struggles, and everyday concerns, a moment has arisen to indulge in a philosophical and historical reflection and take a look at the history of the Department of Laser Engineering and Physical-Technical Technologies. And immediately the question arose: what should serve as the starting point—the establishment of the department as a graduating unit, the launch of the major, the inception of the field, or the creation of the basic laboratories from which it all began?

On November 18–19, 2025, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted the international scientific and practical conference “Resilient Communities – Stable Future: Ukrainian-Polish Experience in Crisis Response.” It was dedicated to contemporary challenges facing the functioning of socio-economic systems, ensuring the sustainable development of local communities, and implementing effective models for responding to crisis situations.
