🤝 Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute hosted a meeting with Alek Waszkielewicz, Chair of the Board of the “Fronia” Foundation for Supporting People with Disabilities (Poland), who has 20 years of experience in accessibility and extensive expertise in implementing accessibility and inclusion principles in public administration and university environments.
During the meeting, the participants discussed:
🔹 exchanging knowledge, solutions, and best practices in accessibility;
🔹 joint initiatives and pilot projects;
🔹 developing educational programs, physical and psychological rehabilitation, and adaptation initiatives;
🔹 supporting the development of adaptive sports.
⚙️ Particular attention was paid to implementing the university’s strategy for creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities and to its veteran support policy. Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute is actively developing this area, including through its Veteran Development Center. Currently, around 300 veterans who have been discharged from military service and active-duty service members are studying at the university. Current initiatives include a master’s program for veterans in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mechanics.
During his visit, Mr. Waszkielewicz also familiarized himself with the work of the Sikorsky Challenge Science Park for Additive Technologies and the Educational and Innovation Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation.
