This summer, Dina Koltysheva, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Bioenergy, Bioinformatics and Ecobiotechnology of the Faculty of Biotechnology, took part in the Summer Academy of the Bavarian Environmental Administration. The training, or rather, internship, took place in the city of Hof from July 20 to 31, 2026.

In late fall, as part of agreements with the “Ukraine Energy Autark” association aimed at promoting innovative research projects and their implementation to achieve Ukraine’s energy self-sufficiency, Olga Vlasenko, senior lecturer at the Institute of IATE at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, and Dina Koltysheva, assistant at the Department of Bioenergy, Bioinformatics and Ecobiotechnology at the FBT Dina Koltysheva, successfully completed an internship in Germany on the topic “Biogas and Energy Biomass Utilization” (pictured).

Representatives of the Department of Bioenergy, Bioinformatics, and Ecobiotechnology of the FBT of Igor Sikorsky KPI took part in the Summer Academy of the Bavarian State Office for Environmental Protection, which was held from July 21 to August 1 this year.

Is it possible to generate electricity from wastewater, organic waste, or biomass? Yes, according to bioenergy and electrochemists. Microbial fuel cells have the potential to create efficient and sustainable energy sources.

The department of eco-biotechnology and bioenergy of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Bioenergetics is working on scientific developments and improvements of technology of conversion of waste into energy carriers.

As the proverb says, "better to see once than hear a hundred times." It is not repeating 100 times the same, lecturer and bioenergy ecobiotechnology students initiated a tour by one of the largest biogas systems Ukraine, located in the village of Rokytne.

Among the young scientists awarded by certificates of NAS Ukraine for achievements in the development of important scientific problems in 2015, the name of Sergey Ihorovych Kostyk - Ph.D., assistant of department biotechnology and engineering FBT is also called.

The prize of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was created for the most talented young scientists in the field of basic and applied research, scientific and technological development established in 2008.

Department of Ecological Biotechnology and Bioenergetics FBT was established in 2004 on the initiative of the Rector of "KPI" Academician M. Zgurovsky.
